Default Cobalt SS/TC Vs Cammed LS1 Camaro SS & Mild Bolt-On Stalled Z28

I need better tires. RWD > FWD. Roll races would have been pretty much even with both cars I think.

Props for going from a dig! I don't think a roll would have been very close with the cammed car though.

So a cam only m6 car is just as fast as the bolt-on z28.... somethings wrong here, stalled auto or not that cammed m6 should come steam rolling by you. SS needs the driver mod, Just sayin..

Nice car and good races btw

Having owned both I think you would be surprised, the turbos on these cars spool very well and cam car usually has a very linear curve, plus giving up at least 4-500lbs. I think roll races with these cars would have turned out quite different.

Also,
Nice to see another white Sedan getting some work in!!

We are starting to take over

Nice showing everyone that we will do a dig.
A roll would have def told a different story.

OP, why the upgrade inter-cooler?
Isn't the stock one pretty efficient? For how well you move out, I almost want to mirror your mods but I wonder if $$ can be spent elsewhere when it comes to the inter-cooler.

NIce runs. I think a roll race would have did the Cobalt better.

It's a weak point when you start to up the boost. The stock one has plastic endtanks that eventually pop apart. There's not huge gains to be had by swapping the intercooler out. My main reason was for reliability and because the ZZP bolt-in FMIC has a little less pressure drop across the core.

Less pressure drop across the core = less work turbo has to do to produce the same PSI.

I also bought it used for $250.

As far as a roll race would go, I think I would win both roll races. Neither Camaro was pulling me on the top end. The main reason I'm losing is the hole-shot. I was starting to inch back on both cars once I was into 3rd.

I used to pull pretty hard on the stalled Z28 (gregrob on here), but he did full exhaust and he picked up alot of power.

I'm not sure what cam is in the Camaro SS, maybe gregrob can chime in, because I'm not sure of exactly all his mods either. I think he dyno'd like 404 hp or something, but that's obviously corrected to sea level, so it'd be more like lower 300-ish uncorrected for our altitude.

So far though, I'm really impressed with the cars I've been able to pick off or keep up with. I don't have much $$$ into it either.

GM Stage 1 Tune/Sensors - $650 (Already on car when I bought it)
Hahn CAI - $259 (Already on car when I bought it)
ZZP 3" Catless SS Downpipe - $190
ZZP Bolt-in FMIC - $250 (used)

Here's the really depressing part -- my 03 WRX has about $6500 worth of power mods and it only runs about .5 seconds faster and actually has a slower trap speed.

Small world, I came from a 02 WRX with a lot more than that in mods, it was a lot faster than my SS when I first bought it, not anymore. But your dead on about the Intercooler, the stock end tanks break, I would look out for it.

That's sickeningly cheap for good gains. Downpipes for my car cost $950 and that's a decent price.

You getting a meth kit and better tune and me getting a few more bolt ons.

I gotta say its my driver skills. I'm learning how to launch a manual car. Yeah the mods on my SS are, lid, TSP long tubes, 4:10s, forged internals, ls7 clutch and cam
235/240 .647 .609 109lsa. Way peaky cam put down 404hp 378tq , not a very good cam in my mind. That first race I didn't launch well at all but I was running you down.

The SS does need a driver mod. But the cam is a piece of **** dyno cam.

It makes good numbers on the dyno, but for a very narrow power band on the street. Makes it 10X harder to drive, launch, and keep it in the usable power.

If he doesnt get a good launch I put it on him pretty good and he can never catch me. If he launches good he can edge me out, and he has 100 RWHP on me. Just goes to show bigger is NOT always better...

Mine is the bolt on one, the cammed SS is a buddy of ours.

I dont think he will put much effort into learning to drive it / getting it to launch. Looks like hes going custom rear mount this winter.

I love street racing with a manual. It certainly adds another element and most people dont expect you to be able to leave hard. But when you do and bang all the gears just right its a great feeling.
