Default Yet another sonar headlight question..

so i have purchased the sonar headlamps and ordered a 5000k hid kit for the low beams. however, i ordered the 9006 bulb, did i order the wrong bulb? i recently read, the projector beam (low beam) takes an H3 bulb.. can someone clarify this please?

You ordered the wrong bulb. Mine needed the H3 bulbs, but I rigged them to fit my 9006's.

Pretty much.

The output with the bulb will be better, but not the best. But, that's mainly due to the projectors used.

Shouldn't mix and match different bulbs to different sockets since each design it entirely different.

The bulb will make a difference , but I don't think it will get you the results you are looking for. Sonars don't have the greatest design for a projector.

Precisely. If I recall, aren't their cutoffs strange as well? Or am I thinking of another design?

The H3 bulbs that it calls for will be the best for the application.

I've been debating for several months whether or not to get a set. Pictures look good, fitment looks good, and the quality looks pretty good. I just can't decide if I want to be looking at fishbowls and rings during the day. A nice touch? Sure. Mandatory to have alternative lighting methods? Not in NJ, but I know some places, mainly Europe that have those laws.

But do they really fit with the car? That's my main concern.

Yep give it a try.
If you aren't fully satiesfied with em after the bulb swap, you can always retrofit projectors from a website that sells projectors.

The best for your situation is to get what fits. A 9006 bulb will not fit the Sonar projectors. Also the H3 bulb will not fit the Sonar projectors since they are designed for H1 bulbs.

Long story short, get the correct bulbs that will fit.

The other other ebay brand projector housings for the Camaro use H3 bulbs (which aren't good enough for headlights).

As briefly mentioned above, although the Sonar projectors that are available for the Camaro are better than the other ebay brands, they aren't "the best" either. The best would be to retrofit OEM HID projectors or aftermarket HID projectors (not ebay knock-offs). There is more info in the Lighting FAQ and a couple sponsors are working on it too.

Sonars are H1, not H3. Eagle Eyes uses H3 (and they aren't too great).

I like the sonars on my car but the light output is still crappy. I plan to retro fit a better projector into the housing. I do believe it is covered somewhere on this sight.

Look in the Lighting FAQ. Someone did it with the "R8" style ebay projectors. They retrofitted Audi A4 projectors.
