Look online at Bow Auto Parts in New Hampshire. They sell tons of LS based iron block truck engines for really descent prices. I just bought a 4.8L pullout for $450 and the shipped it to me for $100. They shipped it to my job in Baltimore Md. I am very happy with the service I recieved.

LS engines can be bought from GM through participating car dealers. Most of them assume that the buyer has an existing fuel injection system and ECM. But there is one LS as a circle track engine that is setup for a carburetor.

Also, rebuilt LS engines can be found at online retailers such as Jegs.

Jegs also has a new (GM Performance Parts) LS engine that is setup for a carburetor:

But take a look at my Track Car Build subject.

GM Performance parts also has an emissions legal LS3 retro engine that comes as a complete drop in with computer and fuel system. It is in the catalogue called E-Rod.

I see one E-Rod LS listed for an automatic transmission. It's priced with an optional ECM system.

The two GM Performance Parts LS engines that take a carburetor are the LS376/515 and the LS327. So the circle track LS is not needed.

Jegs shows the GMPP LS3 376/430 engine and has an optional ECM kit for it at $1080. The ECM kit includes an electronic accelerator pedal !

If you go with a used engine from Ebay, Jeg's and Summit both sell a Carb intake and MSD spark controller for around $650. Makes for an easy install. Modifying the wiring harness is fairly easy, there are plenty of sites with schematics and tutorial videos on youtube. I did my '03 truck harness in about a week and I can run the engine on the stand. This is all new for me.

The GM Performance Parts engines are new engines.

The GM Goodwrench engines are rebuilt engines.

Here's a link to a Goodwrench engine with 4-bolt mains:

http://www.jegs.com/p/GM-Performance...52506/10002/-1

The Goodwrench engine is a name brand rebuilt engine. Less expensive rebuilt engines can be found.

Sweet!-den. Like seeing the LS motor appreciated around the globe. Hope you find one at a good price. I guess it depends on if you want a crate motor, or used. Used are a dime a dozen, just have to find someone willing to ship it overseas! Good luck man.

you can get complete 4.8's for $200 + up and 5.3's for about $300 + up the cheapest ones will have the highest miles on them but theres no reason a well taken care of ls in a 1/2 ton truck shouldnt be good for 300,000 miles so for instance I wouldnt pay $1200 for a 50,000 mile engine when you can get a 110,000 mile engine for $375 but I buy everything with high miles and many will disagree with my opinion on miles but it has served me well.

try www.car-part.com , the dash is important , without the dash it will bring you to a similar site but not as good in my opinion. What this site does is combine all the inventory of all the members wrecking yards

you will need to enter a vehicle and year which had the engine you desire and choose through the menu to choose complete long block etc... you will need to search in an area based on a zip code in the US , maybe try a zip code real close to a large shipping port such as Newark NJ or whatever port would be most efficient to ship to your area?? you can poke around using my zip code to see what I am talking about , its 04064

happy hunting !

for the most part anything offered in a chevy truck was also offered in a gmc . Wikipedia is a great place to see all the different lsx engines and what they came in all listed in one place
