Resistor Mod, C116, +75 shot.. Safe?
Hey guys, I have been trying to get in with my tuner since I hooked the kit up but he is swamped and it looks like he cant get me in for about another 1.5 weeks.. I have a race coming up and I am tied for 1st place for the season with a 2,250 payout to the winner.. I NEED to win this race..
Here is the question, if it were your car do you think its going to be ok on the 75 pills if I put a few gallons of 116 in the tank and do the resistor mod which is supposed to pull 3 degree's of timing with a bolt on tune?? I emailed my tuner and asked him about a 50 shot and he said he doesnt want to tell me it will be ok and then the car blow up but he said if it were his car he would do it with the 116 and it "should" be fine..
I looked at my jet chart and I dont have 50 pills, the smallest I can go is 75.. I dont think 25hp is going to be that big of difference but I want to be sure so I am asking.. Thanks for any input

Id find another tuner who can do the tune quicker pay to do a overnight and give him the money to do the same overnight it back to you as i do with my tuner, you'll sleep better and not worth damaging your motor which will probably cost you more then you might win at the race to fix. Talk to Frost and see if he can tune it for you asap.

as long as he doesn't have your timing way jacked up now at wot, you should be fine hitting it with what you are asking. I would def change plugs, and if you don't have any o2's then put some 110 in it just for safety.

I have O2's, never thought of that being a problem lol.. I will hit it with 150+ after the tune, I just had no idea what it could handle with the bolt on tune.. A 75 shot would put me pretty confident taking home the win. One other guy runs a few tenths faster than me and a 75 should cure that. I will just fill her up with 93, spray the 75 and read the plugs after each run. The plugs are BR7EF? I know I got B?7EF lol

pulling the timing is not the issue. its total timing. find out what your max timing is na right now. on your car bolt on with a 100 shot your going to want to be in the 25 to 26 range but should not hurt it in the 27-28 on a 75 shot. if he has you in the 28 range more than likely you should be fine. to be safe make a 330 hit and pull the plugs if theres no timing mark its safe to go to 660. if still no mark up the jets till there is (assuming 1/8 mile race)

Just to make sure I understand you correctly.. Spray it to the 330 mark and shut of the nitrous.. Check the plugs and if all is well spray it through the traps and then check the plugs again.. If all is still looking good spray it all evening.. I wont be able to spray it out of the hole because the class I race in requires true street tires, not drag radials.. My thought was to spray as soon as I get some traction or just hit it in 2nd gear.. Have to get some T&T in to see where it works
