step by step procedure:
1. remove Lt1
2. install Ls series motor

Sad but true, after doing the turbo lt1 and turbo ls, it's sad when a jy 5.3 will make more power than most turbo lt1's ever will make.

That being said...here's a pic of my turbo lt1 I had...

j/k guys, but in all seriousness what makes the lt1 so hatted..

Is it the band wagon thing?
Is it pocket $$$$ thin?
Im very curious!!

sorry OP..Im in the same boat as you,but i refuse to go with a ls series platform..I'd rather go sbc carbed due to all the hype!!!..My advice to you is listen to members with experience/members thats gonna have positve input not the bozo's........

GOOD LUCK

Thats a nice pic,do you have any finished install pics, dyno #'s/track #'s/or video/build.Not trying to start a pissing match it's just you have such a nice pic of a unfinished project. Also is where did you get your alternator relocation bracket? and are you using the stock rad or aftermarket?

Here is one of the few pics I have of it "finished", the engine bay was completely smoothed and wired tucked.

Aftermarket radiator/slim fan setup and the alt bracket was custom made. The car went 10.8's on stock heads/cam with forged rods/pistons, lt4 valve springs, very simple setup and on 11lbs maxing out the 42lb injectors. I did heads/cam on the motor and ran into some freak issue where the car wouldn't make power, still to this day don't know why it did it, it would make power and feel good one day and the next 20 make no power, then make power good again for a day.

The reason I like the ls stuff is I have less money in my entire motor than a good set of lt1 heads will cost you, not to mention you need the rest of the motor, plus the hptuners is WAAAAAAAAAY better than the lt1 tuning options. We've pushed the stock motors into the ~950 rwhp range on friends cars and my rx7 made 855rwhp/1145rwtq on a jy 5.3 limited by the 76mm. IMO it is a no brainer to switch to an LS, run truck manifolds and have a cheaper more simple turbo kit, better tuning options, and a better motor.

i believe it's because people and "Performance" shops are afraid of them... the plug and play world is far more easier then the traditional performance back ground of make something more powerful then it should be like back in the '30's,'40's,'50's, '60's, '70's..... and the short 5year life span, limited knowledge and parts.

510/570 in Vegas on a Utah/4200' tune,... guessing 530-540rwhp/600+tq with a sea level tune

The lt1 just needs to be setup rite. If b-body guys can go low 10's on a two bar speed density tune (stock ecu), stock ported heads and stock opti than so can fbody guys. Dont get me wrong, my ls1 is the ish in my 99 camaro but I will never swap out my lt1 in my impala. Theres a twin turbo impala from cali with twin 57mm turbos makin 1200 horses. Lt1 dudes r still makin it happen!

My old Lt1 setup with p1sc/383/head really got up and moved, when I'd take people for a ride they were not expecting it to be that fast. I have my new engine setup that I'm currently working on. I'm gonna be running efi 24 connection and a F1-r so it otta be interesting what it will be doing! Ls1's to me are overrated, but the newer Ls2/Ls3 are pretty impressive even just putting a cam in those, it bumps the power a good significant amount.

i dont have any pics of mine, but mine ran damn good right off the trailer, 385ci, ported STOCK heads, BONE STOCK lt1 intake, opti, stock ecu, home made log manifold (dont flow the best) ebay A2A, no meth, pump gas. it made 670@14psi thru a th400 and big stall and ran 6.20@114 good enough for a mid 9 im my 94 camaro so prolly 3400lbs+my 260lb ***! lol, it would have went 5.80's like it sat with more boost and dialing everything in. my car is a lt car so its staying that way! now if i didnt have anything and starting from scratch sure id go ls, but the lt cars are way more rare these days and for what i got im mine will run with any ls car.

right now im doin ported lt4 afr220's, ported lt4 intake, race gas, A2W, way more boost, and some weight reduction! we will see how this "boat anchor" runs! lol

here is mine:

something is wrong with it. On 7 lbs, it only made 531/629 rwhp/rwtq .... and made peak power at 4500 rpms

I have done this build FAR cheaper than any LS1 build. (but it is done right, with the best parts)
