Default Can I run more boost??

I installed the ECS kit (SC600) on my car a while back. The kit made 540 HP and 530 ft/lbs on 10lbs of boost. I wouldn't say I am bored with the car but I am ready for more hp.

So now on to the question, if I add a meth kit to my car, how much boost can I run on a stock LS3 using just 93 octane? Want to keep the engine stock for now.

It is a stock LS3, A6.
Would have car tuned for the meth.
Would really like to pick up another 100+ hp.

Every car is different you just need a good tuner that can catch any anomalies happening before it s too late, You can tell by a dyno graph if there is slight detonation starting before a scanner picks it up, watching the A/F ect. with meth you can run a little more timing and maybe an extra pound or so on a stock motor, don't expect to gain 100 RWHP "Safely" but you might pick up say 20-40 safe HP..But I would say your close to safe hp already on a stock motor.

10 is generally considered to be pretty much max on most stock bottom ends.... Some folks get away with 12 for a while. Definitely need a hotshot tuner like Moe says.

I thought as long as I had plenty of fuel, that with the addition of meth, I would be able to rise the amount of boost I could safely (I know there is no such thing as 100% safe for FI) run.

I thought detonation, not boost(pressure) was the problem.

Stock pistons and rods don't tend to do well after boost gets past 8-10.

Both, detonation is basically hammering on the tops of the pistons which eventually will crack the piston or break the ring lands or both. Boost causes pressure, A motor built for boost has wider ring gaps than an NA motor so ring butting occurs on a motor that was not built for boost, this will also destroy the pistons and or the entire motor..

These engines handle boost really well. Alot of higher boost/HP cars out there. Just need to have it tuned to run safe.

I know of multiple stock shortblock local lsx's that are running over 10psi boost and the motor is fine. If you have the fuel to support it and everything (meth) functions as it should, the motor will hold. Another key is not revving to the moon either.

As a side note, these cars are on E85... Take it as you wish
