Default 24 hours of Lemons

So... oChristiano and a few others of us were thinking about starting a 24 hrs of LeMons team and finding a cheap LT1/T56 or 3.8L/T5 4th gen to build, since all of us have so many spare parts and contacts. Thoughts?

So after reading the rules and etc the car will be only 500$ but then all the safety equipment on top of that which will be easy 600+ and another 500 for entry fees so for those of us that want to do this its going to be a easy 300$ a piece, to ensure the car is done in time we should have a deadline for getting the funds together
Also Christian I probably could swing 100$ right now towards buying a car so maybe we could call and make a offer on that 500$ v6 if a couple others want to pitch in too

I could swing it to. I guess thats how we'll get everyone to commit. Pitch an initial 100 buck and go from there. With 8 drivers thats 800. Thats the car and half the entry fee. Each driver will have to worry about there own safety gear and entry fee.

I have my $100 to swing your way as well. Thats a good way to commit. Yeah We need a Deadly for everything. Makes people push a little harder.

Just a heads up though on that Firebird. Its Auto. We need a Manual.

Yeah thats the only burn. We need to find a 5spd car. Also like ive said to a few people its gunna be a t top car. I check the rules and t tops are okay as long as we put arm restraints in. Bakersfield + end of june = hot. Theres a reason this race is called the **** Sweat-A-Palooza

Also rules have changed alot this year. Restricted to only. 6 drivers per car and there are multiple classes which are up to judges discretion. Cars heavily modified aka a mid engine geo(there example) or motor swaps will be thrown in X-Class with no prize money. There also isnt one over all prize for overall winner its individual classes now.

For safety we need a full cage built to spec fire extinguisher full fia approved race gear and racing seat and 5 or 6 point harness. Seat has to extend to back of helmet so we'll have to figure out a seat for taller people cough Adam cough.

Fix Back Racing seat+ Helmet= ZERO head room. I just checked in my car last night. I have maybe .5'' of head room with T-top on. So yeah Taller Drivers (Cough* Adam) heads will be well above the t-top.

Sounds. Like we're going to have to massage the floor board and make a custom rail to get it lower. Srivers head cant be within 2" of the roof or rollbar.

Default Lemons

We just competed the race at Buttonwillow and it was a blast.
You have to be consistent 2:10 avg laps and very little pit time.
With a heavier car, upgraded brakes are needed and tires can't be less than 190 tread wear rating.
The 6 drivers we used cost about 500 each incl drivers and entry fees.
That covered the tires, safety equip, and we did the cage.
Remember that the main loop and side loops can't have more than four bends in them.

It is fun and take extra parts!

What car did you race? We're planning around a sub 2800lb v6 fbody.
