LS1 N/A Intake Advice
I have a 1998 Formula, A4, N/A with SLP cat. back. Looking to upgrade my intake for better low-mid range performance. Any suggestions?

You could get an LS6 intake, but honestly you will only see maybe 5-10rwhp at the most on a stock application, I would say. On a stock-ish car, you're going to see more gains if you just work on opening up your exhaust.

For your build, yeah ^^
Unless you get heavy with the mods and do head/cam you don't need a huge throttle body. It will hurt low end more than help it.
An LS6 intake, LT headers, ported TB, lid, and tune will net you a pretty big power increase

also look at a BBK or similar type intake ,$300 or less used..a ls6 intake is better the a ls2 intake.you can find used fast 90/92 mm intakes for 650 or less used.they is a thread about ls intake testing , do a search for it.

BBK is a useless intake over an ls6 intake. I would get an ls6 or a used fast 90/92mm if you can find one for a decent price. Ls6 being much cheaper and the fast only gaining ~10rwhp over the ls6. Keep in mind ls6 is just bolt in (minus the coolant stuff, cheap though) Fast 90/92 you will need new fuel rails and throttle body which can add up to as much as the intake.

bbk and weiand intakes can keep up to a ls6 intake, studderin dyno tested them..with a fast 78/90/92 intake you can use your stock fuel rail and injectors ,but you would need bigger injectors if you are making 420+rwhp.

dont waist your money on a fast 92/92 you wont see a good gain on a all stock motor with stock exhaust.
if you have a grand to spend do yourself a favor, get a good lid, ls6 intake, port the TB get a smooth bellow and spend the rest on opening up the exhaust.
your biggest bolt on gains to be had will be long tube headers. I know if I only had a grand i would start there.
dont get caught up into I gotta have the best intake to make HP, thats ricer mentality.
just to prove that i value my own words I run a LS3 intake on my 418 LS3 making over 600hp, its not worth 1000 dollars to me to make a extra 10rwhp right now with a Fast 102, id get a 150 shot first

why would you say not to get long tubes? I have seen plenty of dynos where a set of longtubes made more power threw the entire power band over shorties and midtubes.
true there may be some torque loss but alot of the midrange loss comes from people slapping 1 7/8 headers on small cube motors thinking thats the best thing to do. 1 3/4 headers wont lose very much torque if any.
