Default 5.3L Cam shopping!

I just started looking around for a cam to put into my 5.3L before I drop in into my 85 Cutlass. I do not plan on racing the car or nothing like that but I do want the car to take off when I want it to & get pretty good gas mileage. What cam would you guys suggest for a stock 5.3 with a LS1 intake, long tube headers, 4l60E, & I plan on running 3.73 gears in the rear.

I never use anything smaller then the MS3 or the TSP 233/239 they both are good performers but the 228R might be a good choice for you.

Pretty much anything will give you a good power bump. Id use something in the 224-228 range. A stall converter is a must have with your combo too.

I would talk to Patrick G on here, he makes recommendations and specs cams based on your vehicle, driving habits and needs.

Any cam other than stock is going to require different valve springs and probably pushrods too

Based on your description of desired results and intended usage, I would say something between 220 -224 degrees @ .050".
