Default Lsx-L92 5.3

Has anyone ran the GM Lsx-L92 heads on a 5.3? How bad does torque suffer? It will go in a 67 camaro 6- speed. Daily driver and mild track abuse.

No one has or ever will. A 5.3 doesn't have a big enough bore for the l92 heads

GM performance parts has released a set made for a 3.890 bore. Mast performance also makes a set at twice the price. Just looking for a cheap engine with good power.

I've never heard of those before?!?! Are they brand new or something? But if the ports and valves are the same as a regular l92 head than yes they are took big for a 5.3 unless you made it have stupid high compression, but still i dont think you would get enough air velocity on the ports to make good power with that little of cubic inches

They are in the 2011 GM performance book under Lsx street heads. Have a slightly smaller intake runner 250cc.
2.00 intake valve and 1.55 exhaust.
I know they would be big for a 5.3 but could get them at dealer cost. Less than 1500 complete.

wow thats a great deal, as long as you got a big cam in there you will be fine, especially with the small ports (even though they are still huge) I would run them on a 5.3 if it had flat top pistons in it to bump the compression for the the cam

Has anyone used these heads on anything? These heads have 65cc combustion chambers what would that put compression at on a stock 5.3 bottom end?

If it were me I would get Advanced Induction to port the stock heads.. Should have the same/better performance... But retain the snappy/quick throttle response stock castings are known for.
1100$ or so for their full port work. They make a stupid awesome head for the money.

L92 heads make great power, especially up top... But I would much rather go with a head that will equal its top end power/performance AND do all the things a good head does in the mid range/etc.. It will make a street car more fun.

I know it would make a upper rpm screamer. Future plans include more cubes (408). Just not in the budget.

Personally... My choice would still be AI.

As I said, they will match/out perform the high RPM potential of the L92s while offering an all around better head. For cheaper.
