Chevelle and ElCamino guys I need help!!!!
What oil pans are you running and what motor mounts are you using? We are installing a 03 5.3l L59 in a 72 ElCamino and would like to to get it as low and far back as possible. Any pics or info would be great.

I think pretty much every chevelle build thread in the A body sticky has what you are asking for already provided, I only mention that because it seems like no matter what pan is used there is a compromise somewhere else. Several pans will work so there isn't really a 'right' answer, but I'm using a ctsv pan and have the motor pretty far back. Why a company can't make an ideal pan (addressing tie rod clearance, hang below frame, baffled, etc) is beyond me.

Doug's Headers and Mounts will work with a CTS-V Pan, but it hangs a little below the crossmember. I chose to use a Milodon Road Race Pan that sits about 3/4 of an inch above the crossmember.

Thanks guys we're gonna try the truck pan and try a couple different motor mount adapters. I have a friend with a plasma table so who knows maybe we will have A-body specific mounts before its all said and done!

I have a Holley pan going on in the next week or two onto my L92 with a set of the adjustable dirty dingo motor mounts. I'll post some pics when I get it set in there for a trial fit.

LQ with Doug's plates, 3-1117 Energy suspension engine mounts, Canton pan, Dougs headers. Sits very low in the chassis, pan hangs about 1/2" below cross member.

What trans are you going to be using ?
I am using a CTS-V Oil Pan and made some plates like the early BRP style of plates and relocated the frame stand moving the Engine as far back as I could, have less than 1" between the firewall and engine (more like 3/4").
I also used the Short/Wide frames with Tall/Narrow engine mounts to raise the engine a bit. The pan does hang down about less than 1". My Chevelle is lowered so I have hit many larger speed bumps.. I don't recommend the Truck pan, unless you want to do major sheet metal work on your Firewall and Trans Tunnel (due to raising the engine so the pan will not hang below the X-Member).
