1986 Mustang Notchback street/racecar....
Basically, this thing has changed direction so many times that I am just going to re-do this first post LOL.
1986 Mustang 4 cylinder.
Engine:
Aluminum LS1, stock heads, some sort of big used cam, and nitrous. I have 3 cranks, and about 20 good pistons and rods. We are going to see how fast we can go on cam only/spray setup.
Trans:
Built 4L60E. I live about 30-50 miles from anywhere, so I really want the overdrive. I have someone that should be able to build me a trans that should hold of behind a cam/spray LS1 in a <2,800lb race weight car.
Rear end:
8.8, getting narrowed 3" on each side with 9" ends
Going to run Moser 33 spline and spool.
Chassis:
This is where ALL of the money is going. I figure while you're in there....you might as well do it right.

Team Z extreme duty anti roll bar
Team Z rear coil over brackets
Weld Magnum 2.0 wheels....15x10 weight 11.5 lbs, front with mickey front runners weight 25lbs.
QA1 coil overs
AJE tubular K member
QA1 lower a arms
Still need to buy front and rear drag brakes, axles, manual rack, manual brake master cylinder, chromoly 10 point cage, through floor subframes, kirkey seats, etc.
Picked up an 87+ dash for the interior. I have a 99+ Camaro gauge cluster for the gauges
Every brackets that can be removed out cut out is in the trash already....bumper supports, door crach bars, etc
91 lx front bumper.....sorry 4 eye lovers.
Fuel System:
Magna Fuel 525 (good for 1k+ hp na)
16 gallon Magnafuel pump
15' -8 line
tons of fittings

The goal of this car is to be a quick street car, that can be driven anywhere.....with out the an creature comforts LOL. Reliable, simple and fun to drive on a budget are really the only goals here. I would like to keep is under 2,800 lbs with me in it. Probably going to be about 400rwhp on motor....about 150 extra on the bottle. I will try to get this updated as parts come in.
I would like to see 10's on motor, 9's on spray, but who knows....
Scott Rod Fab inner fender skirts.
Broke the old dash out in favor of a 87+....LOL
Most of the bunk *** body harness.
95% gutted. Going to knock off the surface rust and POR 15 the interior. Most of the rust just wipes away.
Still get our daily drivers in when I'm not working on it.

Yup. I can't go without having something to **** with. At least this is low budget...when I don't have money, it can just sit. Plus there is always something to tinker with.
Not sure yet. I'm assuming weld, grind, body filler, sand, repeat as needed LOL.

If baby momma and baby fall asleep, I'm in the garage. lol. I should be able to get a few hours on the weekends, and a couple hours a few nights a week....if I feel like staying up halfway late lol. Definitley makes finding time challengine.

Even though my main goal is the get the roller ready this year, I have about 90% of the parts needed to assemble the long block now. Although, engine assembly is about last on the list, I picked up coil packs, valve covers, oil pump pick up, cam retainer, lifter trays, all covers, a good crank, 7 good pistons and rods, almost all the bolts needed, etc last night. Half of the parts are duplicates of what I already have, but they don't hurt to have laying around.
The only parts needed are gaskets, head bolts, oil pan, lifters, oil pump, and a cam of my choice lol. I will need a T56 core as well....I hope to find one neededing a little work.
I am thinking about the PSI wiring harness to help keep my sanity. Seems like a good quality harness for a fair price. As of now, I am <$1,800 in the whole project.

Console cut(weight reduction), Camaro gauge cluster....I'll have to trim the dash and surround to get it to fit properly. I still need a 87-89 column, but this one will work for now. The dash and console will be painted/dyed black, carpet will be black, etc.

Haven't really made any progress, but I did get it the rest of the way gutted out. Ripped out the shitty insulation, pulled the fenders, front bumper and doors. Got the inner fender panels fitted into place. I still need to weld them. It's going to be a LONG road with this car.
The insulation was BEYOND nasty in this thing. I had to open the garage door to let the place air out....
Alos got my free garage TV 60" Hitachi Ultravision. When I finish the garage, I'm going to mount it about work bench height in the back of the garage so I don't lose any floor space. 250 Channels in the garage will be nice. Hopefully I will be insulating and drywalling in the next month or so.

Picked up some new wheels. they are nicer than the car LOL. Centerline Telstars.
15x4 and 15x8. I wanted 15x10's but the price was right....

"while I'm in there, I might as well..." is getting the best of me. Mini tubs are ordered....going with a fuel cell, through floor subframe connectors, and a 10pt chromoly cage.... ****'s getting deep. I'm also going to narrow the rear end a couple inches to tuck the 28" drag radials. ****.

Wheel tubs cut out, soda blasted frame rails and torque boxes... Going to order some axles, rear brakes and some suspension parts this week probably.

Mini tubs, and coil over mounts have arrived. Now I need to find someone local to narrow the rear end, and weld on 9" ends. Then time to order axles. I'll probably just order a anti roll bar this week too.

Well....Change on plans. Looks like this car is going to get an automatic. In order to run like I want it to, it's what needs to be done lol.
I have made a few changes too. I sold the Centerline Telstars in favor of some Weld Magnum 2.0's. Rears are 4" backspace, so I will be narrowing the rear end 2.5" on each side. I also picked up some Kooks stainless 1.875" d port headers. They are a work of art.
My helper checking out the wheels. She approves.
