Hotside plumbing question
Im am doing a conversion on a car with a 5.3,and a 72mm front mount turbo. Im flipping the drivers manifold and passenger side will point rearward. The turbo will mount near the drivers fender well. Question is...I have to route the pass side exhaust under the car and back up and around to the drivers side to meet the turbo...the exhaust from the drivers side will be short..Will I have a problem with this setup in that the pass side is so much longer than the drivers?
Also where is the best place to put 02 sensors? I will be running Speed density.

In a perfect world, both sides "should" have equal length piping for best performance. With that said, home built turbo kits RARELY have equal piping on both sides, and there are many turbo kits that utilize a setup like what you described. Pretty much any log style turbo setup will have much more pipe on the drivers side bank since the turbo attaches right to the pass side manifold. With that said, no, you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever. My personaly setup has much more piping on the drivers side and it works just fine. Good luck.

Honestly, I would tune the O2 sensors right out (all 4 of them). Are you tuning the car or are you having someone tune it? O2 sensors only make very minor adjustments and with a good fuel map tune you shouldn't even need them, especially on a speed density tune. Most turbo cars burn the O2 sensors out after a few months anyways and it can get expensive. I have no O2's on my setup and even untuned it runs and idles perfectly. My tuner told me not to even bother using them because they are not needed and will only create problems down the road when you have to start replacing them all the time. Put a wideband in the downpipe and thats all you should need.

That's the way the PTK/EBay kits are routed. They seem to do ok

I guess it's really a tuners preference on whether to run O2 sensors or not. Mine told me he'd prefer to tune it without them because he has heard of problems with them on a turbo build. But there are people that run them as well. Guess it's just preference. Personally, if I can get rid of a part that will most likely fail sooner than normal, I'm all for it.

I would put the 02 sensors just after each manifold. They are beneficial for fuel trims over the long term. Ive had no problems with sensors and use Bosch 13444. They are only around $40 each. Most people ruining them have other problems such as contaminating them with coolant or race gas.
