Default 2007 Camaro SS *** Must see

Apparently GM has had many complaints to the Holden (I mean GTO) because of design and other things. Their sales have been low (606 for all of Feb) and they have had no audiences in recent auto shows for the GTO.

To the point:
It has been announced that GM has plans and has been working on the 2007 Camaro for 2007 on their new platform for that year.

Sounds to good to be true. Yes. But take a look at the link. There is possibility here and GM may bring it back Fast and Aggressive instead of this 2 or 4 door sedan (I mean GTO).

I am interested in anyone elses views and please post your views at the site.

Default Awesome news

I hate to see the 5.7 350 go, but things change. The LS1/LS6 engine is really something else, but if they can come up with something better, then go for it.

Even though I drive a Z28, I am glad the SS will be an actual step up in performance unlike the latest run. Don't get me wrong, if I could have found an SS that was in good shape before I found my Z, I would probably be driving an SS now. I know it's just a hood, spoiler and wheels for the most part, but you just don't see as many. I plan to put those items on my car anyway, but for last. I will spend my money under the hood before on the hood...

I hope GM brings back the Trans Am back too. Seeing Mustangs going unchallenged is sickening (at least on the showroom of dealerships anyway).

If you noticed the dates on that forum, it is dated back in September.
The reason why the pic links won't work.

GM will build a camaro, just a matter of time. And when Ford drops their new mustang.

These are the latest sketches I've seen from cheersandgears and cz28.

This one is by crispey2k at candg based on some very "interesting" info by evok there

This one is by jg95z28 at cz28 and is modified from crispey's

What do you all think? To retro? I like them alot myself.

Thought I would add in Kris Horton's design from last year.

Kris's are to retro IMO, but still nice.

Looks really cool, IMO. I thought I heard the 07 GTO will be based on the same chassis, and that there will be no Firebird. Anyone else hear that?

Hello, and welcome to last September.

Here's a couple more recent stories that appeared in the Australian automotive press about it. click here

The current GTO (and Monaro) are due to be completely redesigned and all new for 2007, and the new Camaro (speculation true, but it's officially called Chevrolet coupe/convertible right now) will be on the same bones in 2008, which are being engineered now in Australia.

There are no plans for a new Firebird, the GTO and Monaro will continue to be the same car. The new Chevrolet "coupe/convertible" will be the same structurally and powertrainwise, everything else is up in the air.

I like how you spinned your personal dislike of the GTO into your original post too, that's pretty cute.

It makes sense to me and I have been saying all along that if GM was to bring the Camaro back out it would be 2007.

The basis for this is what I saw in the 2005 Mustang. If I am correct the Mustang actually came out mid 1964 (1964 1/2 mustang) Chevrolet answered in 1967 with the Camaro.

So since Ford has the redesigned "Retro" style Tang coming out for model year 2005 very soon this year, it would make sense that Chevrolet repeat history by coming back with the powerful answer to that with a 2007 Camaro to blow it away.

Of course I have never had confirmation on this but it has made sense to me that it would be cool for GM to start the original war all over again from scratch.

Great news if it comes true!

I liked this design when it came out not long ago.

My question is why is GM farming out the R&D, and probably the production, of the new f-bods to Australia? Sounds like more U.S. jobs going to foreign countries. What does the UAW think about this? Personally, I think GM can do all of that here, and do just as good, or better.

I think it is a pipe dream..GM made little money on the "F" bodies. People found it hard to spend 32k on a WS6 or SS when they could spend 40k and get a Vette..
Unless you are crazy like all of us!

However, I love that new look, and I am hoping that this comes true!

oh man, that car looks sweet. I like the front end, reminds me of the old muscle cars. I'd definitely buy one if it had the latest vette engine (probably LS3 by that time).

A Z28 sold in the low 20's. Same performance as SS or WS6, and very close to a Vette.
