Default Braided Fuel line

The other day I was at AutoZone and walked by the rice section and saw some braided fuel lines. Anybody dress up the engine bay with these ? If so how do you remove the ends(parts that attach to the fuel rail) from the stock one?

Stay away from this crap! All lines and hoses are not created equally. If you want quality go with Aeroquip or the Earl's brands. The stuff in the Autozone store is purely cosmetic, which is why it's sold like it is. It's garbage hose with a fancy dancy braid on the outside. The stuff from Aerouquip or Earls is the real deal. To cut the braided hose will require a special cutter, and then for your own safety, to prevent a fuel fire, you'll want to pressure test the line after you assemble it.

No, it's truly crap man. I saw a guy putting this stuff on his WRX, and it looked like ****! Get the real stuff, not that cheap fake garbage.

I've got one of those "fake" braided hose kits awaiting install. All the stuff just slips over your existing rubber hoses, etc......

I've seen a few cars that were done quite well with the "fake" stuff, so if you take your time and do it right I think everything will be just fine!

Yea the one that I saw is the rubber hose with the braid already on it I figure this would look alot better laying across my custom FRC's then the plain black hose....but back to the original question how do I remove the hose from the coupler that goes into the fuel rail?

Its called a schrader (sp?) valve.. you need a little tool gizmo that you can get at any autozone or such..

the covering never looks right.. it bunches up and pulls and ends up look like crud.. You can get the fuel line made in real braid but the other hose (emissions hose next to fuel line) is a PITA since it has plastic parts..

Also if you have braided fuel lines and they touch your FRC's in any way they will vibrate and saw through your FRC's..

Just some things to keep in mind

Spectra has a kit that used real Stainless Steel Braid to slip over the hoses. It looks nice. The other stuff is made of tin and looks like ****. Here is a pic of my engine bay. Some of it is real braided hose and some isn't. Can you tell me which is which???

It looks like the hose going to the throttle body on the left side is cheaper than most of the rest. It's not a great picture, in terms of being able to see the hoses clearly, though. Not bad at all!

any worries about hose rot caused by humidity being trapped in between the sleeves and the the actual hosing?

I think the warmth from the water and the engine bay itself would prevent any condensation between the sleeving and hoses.

I can tell!! It's that red and blue one...no, not that one, the one above that...now to the right. That one!!

Seriously, that looks good. How do you get the head and block to be shiny like that? Please tell me that can be done without disassembling engine parts....
