Help With A Few Problems
I bought the car used, and have neglected these few problems for a while, but they are starting to annoy me. The spots on the headlights are from the previous owner leaving the blackouts on there, and them coming off on the lense. I was told to try a plastic polish, but the only thing I have found is blue magic, not Meguirs. Any suggestions? The places on the seat, would the best thing to be to try to scout out another cover? Thanks!

I used 3M before. I tried getting it from their website, but it was backordered. Go figure. It is backordered in their own store...
The site SuperBuick gave me for Menzerna sells some. They shipped my stuff out quick. Its located in FL.

I think you need something more aggressive where you have
the scuff marks. i use 3m swirl remover (yes for paint) on
headlights that discolor.(then finer stuff) however, i have never ran into your problem...

I had a pretty good amount of success with using 2000 grit sandpaper while wet sanding, and then getting the scuff marks off with the 3m swirl remover (it was what I had laying around). It is not completly gone, but a good amount of it went away. I am going to try our local Napa's since the Advances and Auto Zones don't have anything besides Blue Magic. Thanks for the ideas!

I would try a local leather repair shop for the seats. As fo the lights I would wetsand them and try a polish with a dremel. If that doesn't work get another pair.

Are the leather seats in our cars real leather throughout, or is part of it vinyl? This may be a stupid question, but I thought I read something along these lines at some point. Thanks for the light suggestion. I am going to have to try to get some real polish. The only thing local is Blue Magic. I am going to try Napa this week. It all else fails and I hurt the lense, I may end up with some Halo's

I found some Mothers' polish and put it on by hand. It removed the small scratches due to wet sanding only. That is still the film. Would a buffer be the next step I take it?

the parts of your seat that are messed up are the vinyl parts. The only part that is leather is the inserts as is the case with most cars. The only way you would have a full leather seat is if you had some really good custom ones. Most companies use a combo of leather and vinyl for seat covers because it is cheaper and more practicle I don't know if it is possable to just have those pieces replaced because the dye with each batch of leather and vinyl is different. Also leather cant be sowen in the same place twice because it will tear, think of leather as a piece of paper with perferations, onece its done it isn't as strong and will tear along the perferations. You could take it to a shop and see what they say, they may be able to work the cover over to keep the leather but the vinyl may be a bit off if replaced.

On my ebony leather seats I found a shoe polish that very closely matches and covers up well... Maybe be much harder to find a color match for that.
If you do, make sure it dries COMPLETELY before hopping in with a white T-shirt

The wear on the seats is normal, just from getting out of the car. I had mine replaced under warranty. I think they said it would have been in the $350 range... Of course the new piece that they put on is doing the same thing again... Im not going to worry about it.. Only i can notice it.

GM Parts Direct would charge 412 for one complete cover--way more than I would pay. Thanks 01 Red WS6 for the material info. I understand what you are saying, and I will take it to a local shop to have checked out. It is worth a shot. SeaHawk, thanks for the polish advice--I may give it a shot! Anyone got any feedback on application of the polish?

Maybe I am wrong but isn't the "leather" actually leatherett(vinyl) in the F-bodies? All leather cleaning/conditioning products will be beneficially to the vinyl as well.

From what I have heard (not from experience).....
F-bodies have leather "seating surfaces", meaning that the parts that actually touch you when you sit in them are leather, but the rest is vinyl.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?
