Today I plan on removing the side moldings on the doors because its discolored and ugly Im also removing the "tran am" emblems on the doors aswell

I never done it just seeking advice on what to expect or maybe some tricks someone who may have done this before, thanks in advanced

blowdryer and a soft plastic putty knife is all used, and some oops or goo gone, whichever one isnt too bad for your clear coat or some kind of adhesive remover to get the residue off the car...I think I used goo gone, and it didnt mess up my paint

yeah im pretty sure you can use the same method you do to take emblems off, fishing line and a heat gun

Exactly what whitenrude said. If it's cold outside heat them up. We used plastic putty knives to get them started then just ripped the rest off. You may or may not have residue left over. I didn't.

I used a blow dryer and thought it sucked, moved up to a heat gun and bad better luck.

I ended up pulling my moldings off and leaving the sticky part on the car.

Went to work and got some paint thinner, or acetone, and that ate it right off. Be careful with whatever chemicals you use, I cant remember which one it was that worked.

I tried each chemical on a spoiler that I was repainting anyways.

IMO Heat is your friend.

Just beprepared for some discoloration if the car sat out side at all and faded

Heat gun and pull them off carefully. to get the glue off without using harsh chemicals you can go to napa or o'reilly's and get whats called an eraser wheel that you can put in a drill that will rub it off without damaging the paint. Takes a little time but the eraser wheel wont damage your finish like some harsh chemicals.

I used a clay bar to get the stickies off. After washing the car about 2 times all of the stickies were gone.

If that area of your car is been repainted, you will want to verify that the painter did not paint or clear coat over the emblem or trim. I have seen some really bad results when emblems were removed on a repaint.

I used fishing line without a heat gun, took some time and had some sore thumbs for a while! I like the emblems, but not the trim, this mod really cleans the look up!

On good thing is you can just put it back on with some 3M tape if it looks bad, unless there was a paint over and that gets torn-up when you remove.

take some copper wire used in mig welders and slowly and gently move it underneath. you kind of want to move it from left to right. ive used this on many cars and if you do it correctly you should get a good result

I prefer wax coated nylon string. Wrap it around your hands and saw away. Using a heat gun to soften the double sided tape helps, but not necessary. Use Goo-Gone or 3M adhesive remover, etc. to get the left over tape off. Don't use acetone, its bad for your paint and definitely never use that stuff on plastic. It eats it away.

Heat up the area with a blow dryer and use fishing line on the emblems. On the adhesive the strips leave behind, pull it as if you're just trying to stretch it out and it will start to come off and break less. There is a video of it on here somewhere and it works remarkably well.

I used fishing line, hair dryer, and wd40.. worked fine..then wheeled the fenders and doors. Never knew they even existed

I used Fishing Line to saw thru the adhesive then used a hair dyer to heat up the glue and roll it off, then I used windex to remove the rest of the crap since its been glued there since 2001 lol, and I cant believe how big of a difference it made, im really impressed, it looks clean as ****

I made a how to video and the outcome will post tomorrow if the upload doesnt take a **** on me overnight

just a really strong double sided adhesive tape is all that is in between the molding to the door
