PT76 non-billet vs billet
What are each one of their capabilities on a forged 370? How much of a real difference is there between the two. I just picked up a used non billet turbo and now have a chance for a good deal on a billet turbo. Is it worth the switch.

There is a huge difference. Depending on the wheel, if its cast, its probably Garrett or Turbonetics based. Just for reference, we would max out a PTE 4276 @ 850-875 rwhp. The same hotside, which was garrett based, but with the PTE CEA wheel, would max out around 1000-1050.
Thats an easy 100-150 rwhp difference. Same compressor cover

On a 347 ci windsor, going from the cast 6 blade to the billet, gained about 37rwhp. All else was the same...just the unit with the different comp wheel was changed. This was on a 5spd car as well.

Correct we did a swap from a Cast version to a billet version on a 402 and gained nothing. The back pressure was killing the turbo.

so dr turbo, would you recommend a pt7675 do on a 370? i called precision and they said it would max out around 700 rwhp with the .96? seemed low to me...
I wanted to build my ls1 block but have seen a few people cracking sleeves lately is making me want to stay iron and if im gonna have the weight i might as well go bigger cubes then a 5.3. Or would it be better to stay smaller displacement on this turbo? Im not after a dyno queen(even though my sig says so hahaha) but want to be able to turn it up over 800 just for ***** and giggles... lol
if it matters i have a 46mm gate vented to atmosphere..
