should i turbo a 210,000 motor
Hey wussup guys im torn if i should turbo my stock ls1motor till i blows it has 210,000 miles i will be using a on3 performance 76mm turbo. What do you guys think about it holding up to about 550rwhp or do a junkyard 5.3 which is more work and i would push that past 550 but right now speaking of the ls1

Im prepared for it to blow but i was hoping to get at least 1summer out of it then take it out and do the 5.3. Long as it would last a summer i'd be happy but thats one of those things where u just dont know

you can pull your motor out and get a few bucks for it to fund the 5.3 and a few little upgrades to help it hold together, I would rather see people do that and keep an aluminum ls motor out there than blow it up just to do a junkyard motor anyway

Makes sense i just wanted to see if a motor with that high miles can withstand boost and for how long just incase somebody else was wondering the same thing. But i agree with what your saying

2000 ls1 is one of the better years, but id say if it is your dd then definitely no. but if its a project car then either save up and get the block checked out and get a nice rotating assem and heads, reuse your ls6 intake and boost it! but don't think that you'll be done at that point, you'll need new injectors, fuel pump, and other good stuff. read some stickys to get an idea of what your getting into.
but imo boosting your car right now will not last too long.

If your motor is strong right now, i dont see why it wont still hold together under boost. Youd obviously be wise to follow the general "rules" people use to try and keep the stock bottom together(great tune, ~8psi, methanol) but if its healthy now, go for it. Some low mileage engines last 5 miles under boost, while others last 20k or more. Its gonna come down to how well you put it together for what you want out of the car.
A lot of times on high mileage builds youll get that " ill just throw this together and if it blows, oh well" mentality but if you treat it like a low mileage car, i bet it would hold together for a good amount of time.
