The weak link is in the pistons, GMPP suggests no more than 550 hp on stock pistons, however the LSA uses the same material and they now make 580 hp on boost with a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty. I'd still change rod bolts though.

I've seen one of my friends run 10's for years with a big cam and big n2o shot in his 98t/a with stock rod bolts....but it eventually grenaded lol

Usually the weak link is the rods (in just about any OEM engine), however the pistons are only "rated" at 550 (800/900 for rods, crank will take just about anything you can throw at it).
