Default when in boost-timing retard

as soon as i hit 3k the timing gets retarded so much that it almost stops the car from accelerating... I just got everything finished with the kit a guy has a little tune on it but i have not read of any sts kits getting a timing retard as soon as boost hits....

any thought? i do run hotter plugs which will change eventually, but this still does not happen to too many people so im not sure whats up with it... im thinking about disconnecting the knock sensor and seeing what that does

I'm assuming his bomb was referring to your motor blowing up

The problem is you are not giving us enough information to go off of. The info you are giving doesnt bode well for you. A quick answer to your "why this car" question is that every car is different and will respond differently to boost. Everyoen is recommending tuning because they will do some data logging and at that time will be able to answer why you are getting timing retard. Good luck to you and bottom line is stay out ofo it until it gets tuned or it may in fact be "the bomb"
