Pontiac GTO 2004-2006 - NT05R's are on!

Finally got my NT05R's from Jegs and got them mounted on a spare set of 17's I bought. Planning on just using these as my street set, just for racing nights.
Haven't really got a chance to test them out too much.
We run on a prepped concrete road out in the middle of nowhere. So I tried a few launches to see how they hooked. 3500 rolling into the throttle just ended up with some bogging. I'll set the 2step there and see if leaving WOT can get it to spin just a little and keep the RPMs up. But I'm pretty happy with them so far.
Should make some "passes" this saturday and tuesday on the street. And might go to the track this weekend and attempt it.
Its opening weekend though so I doubt I'll get many passes if I even decide to run.

Nice Greg, they are definitely more consistent than the 555r and they don't need as much heat. Damn, I should have just sold you mine since all the tracks out here in CA are shutting down, I never use em anymore.

Should have buddy.
Jake, these will last a long time because they will only be on when I go racing. I guess it depends how bad the concrete at our "track" eats them up lol

Props to the OP for being one of small handfull of PBM owners who knows how to detail a car! Very sharp clean goat ;-)
Why are a lot of the CA tracks closing down?
I thought LACR was the only one

I ran these tires last summer and put about 3000 miles on them and made about 10 passes at the track. I pulled them off for winter scene I'm up in Washington i plan on putting them back on this summer as soon as the weather get better. I think with the right driving you can get about 10,000 or better out of them on the street.
OP they are great tires you'll like them.

Irwindale shut down because the company went bankrupt and Fontana shut down pending an environmental impact report because of noise complaints. All thats left in southern CA is Barona which is East San Diego County and Famoso in Bakersfield. And they wonder why street racing goes on. Btw Greg, Your paint almost looks as good as mine, LOL.

what size are those? and let us know if there is any rub issue

275/40/17
No rubbing or issues. I do have drag springs and drag bags though. But even on sagging suspension i think the camber from the squat would allow it to clear.

I forgot if you have a stick or an auto Greg. I have a stick and will be watching to see how those work out for you. I need new drag tires.

Jerry I have a stick. Running a Mcleod RXT now so next tuesday we'll see how it does at the track.
Ok here's the pics someone asked for on LS1GTO.com about the sidewall pinch and contact patch people always bitch about stuffing a 275 on an 8" wheel. As you can see here, vs the factory 245.
The pinch obviously not a big deal, and CLEARLY a huge difference in contact patch.
Sorry there are way more than there needs to be. Just wanted to cover all the bases for him.

Nice looking rubber and nice PBM OP. Let us know how the hold. I wanted the "R"s but could not get them in my size so I went with the regular NT05. No complaints so far.

Well I went to the track last saturday. First time since last June..
Its still a new setup to me and I've only made 3 passes on it so it is what it is. But there is definitely room for improvement. But they were hooking leaving off the 2step from 4k after a good 2nd gear burnout...not going to point a finger at the tire, track, driver, etc.... But they should hold more than that. Really I just bought them for the street. Will be running a 15" Bias ply setup for the track.
Anyway, went 12.14 @ 115.(forgot) with a 1.9 60'.
Before the cam on slicks, I used to pull 1.6x's so I know that there is definitely room for improvement on the 12.1.

I have these same tires, pretty much dead hook for me from a 4k drop without a burnout, on the streets.
