11.5x or better/camonly,m6 ls1 17" drag radial owners inside please
has any one gone mid 11s camonly with a m6 on 17" drag radials,i know some one has to have done it,as its not impossible.can yall post up et,mph,60',year of vehicle, raceweight, rwhp and what kind of 17" or 18"drag radials.
i miss the days of my pullied cobra when i could just drive to the track not swap wheels and run mid to high 11s (11.5-11.8)
i like having a mid 11 second car no rollbar for me,but swapping wheels is getting to be a pain in the ***,i would like my cam only ls1 m6 to run mid 11s on a everyday street setup so please post up yalls success cause im tempted to get back into a cobra

You should be able to do it without swapping wheels. A friend of mine had a cam only car that had 17x11 zr1s on the rear and ran 11.55. he ran 11.6-11.7 all day. With the right gears, dr's and driver it shouldn't be much of a problem. Hell I drive 200 miles round trip with my h/c car on 17's and have ran 10s/11s

so u have dipped into the 10s with a h/c ls1 on 17" drag radials?give me a run down of your setup so i can copy it.lol what rear, gears,hp,weight,
lotta views but no one has posted there setup of a cam only ls1 on 17" drag radials with a m6,maybe its a little harder than i thought.
i was thinking 9" with 4.30
mickey thompson 17" drag radials
420rwhp/3400lb raceweight
basic suspension,qa1s,torque arm and lca

^sounds like around we're you need to be. I don't think you need 4:30's though it can be done with 4:10's. The tire is going to be important too. A lot of people in my area have had success with Hoosiers, BayAreaSS being one of them.
I think a lot of it comes down to if your car is running how it should, and the driver as well.
If you had a stock internal car running 11.40's, I don't understand why your having trouble getting a cam only car into the same range?

i do have a cammed ls1 that i take out of the garage once in a while but the setup is from a previous owner that did not drive it,i believe he just wanted a hugger camaro and a cammed car,the setup is crap.heres the basics of it as it sits
trex cam,10 bolt 3.42,basic tune with maxed injectors.
basically the only good things right now are big cam, capable of making the hp needed and a kmember so it save me 30lbs lol
i go to the track frequently in san antonio tx and the fastest cammed m6 ls1 on 17" drag radials i have seen is 12.4 @117 i believe
i say 4.30 because the trex needs a lot of gear
mt because those hoosiers will wear out hella fast.

If you have a big cam and can spin it high I'd get 4.30s. With that power/weight and suspension you should be able to hit your goal easily. I ran on hoosier dr's but I've also used the mt's. Had better results with the hoosiers.

Since you have a Trex I would go with at least 4.30 gears, but, 4.56 would be better. I would get the 295/45-17 M/t drag radial and make sure you get a clutch that will work well with the radial. Good double adjustable shock on the rear, torque arm and mount that moves it off tailshaft, LCA & reloc brackets. Full bolt ons. Tire pressure, clutch, shock settings are the key. You should be able to run low 11's with a setup like that once you get it sorted with just basic weight reduction like spare & jack, drag wheels, front sway bar.

thanks killer5.3 but im staying with a 26" tall tire a big tire on the back of a street car such as this one just looks stupid to me. 275/40/17 315/35/17sizes i want to run
i agree with everything else you posted but man thats a lotta work, cobras are so easy.i really thought there would be more street setup cars going mid11s cam only.
no i dont wann know what your street car with 28" slicks and skinnes will do,i want to know 17"drag radial with a m6 cam only

not 17s, never had a set for the car. But run a bunch of 11.0s 11.20s on my 16inch Z28 rims. M&H drs a few years ago.
been 10.60s now on 275 mt on my 15rims. I bet i would run some 10.9s now on 17s with a DR, if I had a set. I think I ran some 11.5s, 11.7s a bunch of times on normal 245 summer tires all 4 I got on the car (16x8 Z28 rims) that was a cool setup driving around with cam only, about 415-420 with the LS6 intake, 3350race weight back then. Bring it to 3500-3800, and let the clutch out slow so it never pulls the motor under 3500. 4K launch would spin. 11.6 11.7s all day 121-123
I would switch over to 28s and 4:56 gears still if you have to buy tires/rearend upgrade, over staying with the 26 (25.7) stock tires size. You dont have to get 315 or anything wide as hell but the side wall will help a lot with the t56, even with street driving around 25psi in them, over 275 26s

anyone else, that have gone mid 11s cam only on 17" drag radials with a m6.
i went out just to make some baselines, still up in the air if i want to spend money on the setup or buy me a cobra.
made 3 passes
1st was my best,13.0@115 2.3',not spinning just taking it real easy outa the hole.da was 2200.
2nd pass,2nd gear was real hard to get in, so that took a second
3rd pass spund real bad so i just let off
trex,stock 853 heads,ls6 intake,base tune,3.42.........lmao previous owner setup.if i do decide to make progress il do ftp lid,85mm maf,retune,tick master cylinder,3.90 or 4.11

My car wasn't quite that fast but 12.02@115/415rwhp/3600 race weight/1.76 60ft with 18" 305/35/18 Nittos on stock rear with 3.73's(rear end broke that pass ). With a built rear like I have now with 4.11's I bet I could pull off a about 1.6 60ft with Mickey 315/35/17's instead of the nitto's for about an 11.8 or so. You shouldn't have a big problem meeting this goal especially if you get your race weight down. I've never ran 17's and went straight to 26x11.5x15 et street track only tires for this season.
