162k cam swap
Gettin ready to do cam swap on my 162k formula a4 was wondering if u should replace my factory oil pump..at idle on full temp it's a 40-50 psi and close to 80 full throttle
Should I go ahead and replace because of mileage or keep it and get new o ring..also going with a double roller chain will a certain oil pump fit better

Its kind of a crapshoot either way, your oil pump is probably fine but most will say to replace it. Im putting an oem LS6 oil pump on my 383 build. I bought it from ws6store for $105 and it came with an o ring. As far as the chain goes some double rollers require oil pump spacers and clearancing of the timing cover. Im using new oem gears and an LS2 chain.

I think the slp double roller is a jp chain i would call SLP and tell them what you have, the SLP oil pump i think is a milling they do modify either the pump or sprocket or it might be the collar that comes with the kit that makes it all work not really sure. i bought the kit for my build and every thing worked out great with no clearance issues on the front cover.

There are some out there that argue on pumps due to using ported LS6 or HV pumps that end up with Pressure issues. Interesting thing so I am not going to tell you not to do it but just monitor it once it's in and see what it is running cold idle, hot idle, and under load conditions.
I ran into this when I did a swap @ 30k miles and worried bout stock 2002 oiling and was recommended not to do it and never any issues @ 47k. Oil cleaner then clean so MAYBE when I either put a different stick in there or look at a 402+ CID motor will change the oiling system.
Just IMO.
