I'm in the middle of swapping a newer motor into my car which has 225k+ on the old motor. Should I replace the pick up tube or will I be alright using the existing one.
After you remove it, if there's any crud in there (and, there could be), spray some engine degreaser in it and ream it with a coat hanger that has some cotton, or soft material on the end.
Fwiw, i just took my oil pan, windage tray and pick up tube to the machine shop and they charged me 5 bucks to throw it in the hot tank for a half hour. Everything looks brand new.
I can understand cleaning it, but may I ask, why would you paint an oil pick up tube?
Well...stupid me! I thought he talking about the dip stick tube.
Sorry guys...I've been under the weather all week, and as you can tell, the 'ol processor isn't working!!
HEY, OP...DON'T PAINT THAT TUBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
