im having a fab 9 built by midwest chassis and im trying to figure out how much i can narrow it. id like to go 1" on each side. im running 28x10.50 et drags with a 15x10 7.5"bs.

im having a mwc done now with 2" narrow on each side with 6.5 backspace wheels. believe I need to do just like you did.although i plan on taking it a bit futher.

I am currently narrowing 3" per side using a 9" rim with 4.5" bs.

im 4 inches each side , 15 x 10 3.5 bs , even at 1 inch narrowed id think youd want to change wheel back space to 6.5......

With a 28x10.5, you're definately filling out the fender well. Without extensively reworking the front part of the wheel "tub" an removing the bump top area, I'd say you're gonna be limited to narrowing only 1/2" - 3/4" per side.
You can narrow it more, I'm sure, but more work with the sawzall and bfh will be required.
