I'm so ticked about all of the issues with the LS4's. I bought my Impala thinking I was getting a really decent car only to find out I also bought a lemon. I've found an 06 GTO with 58,000 on it and I'm really considering trading. It's the 6 speed and of course 6.0

Am I just trading into more headaches? I've been sitting on $3,000 now for a few months trying to decide what to do. Do I give TEP my money and get a rebuilt trans or put the cash towards a trade?

I guess what I'm wondering is how bad did GM mess up the GTO. I love the Impala but at the same time I'm so disgusted..

Search over in the gto forum their has been quite of bit fellow ls4ers that has made the switch and don't regret it. It's all personal preference.

From my understanding they are a personal preference like 99slpws6 said. I love their performance but the styling was a little bland. I was going to get one before my charger but the dealer wouldn't budge on the price. I'd say do it. You wouldn't be disappointed. Once you start up that ls2 and drive it, you'll forget all about the impala and it's problems.

Looks like I'm sticking with the Impala after all. Man I got screwed on this one, my fault though. When I went to look at the GTO today the dealer did a carfax on the Impala and found that it was in an accident with the previous owner. I didn't ask for the carfax when I bought the car, and I didn't research the LS4 problems. My bad.... Offered me $7,000 since it had been reported as an accident victim. Looks like I'm calling Dave at TEP.

Jrhartman took the words right outta my mouth. Just keep searching. There are plenty Goats out there. Just keep looking. Maybe the next dealership will give you about 10k or so for it. You'll find something

Talked the dealer into $9,000 trade on the Impala. I'm doing it if I can talk the bank into it. See what tomorrow brings.

why would you want to trade your car for another 6yr old car? id do the trans and save for something newer. used 2ss or g8gt.

That's exactly what the bank said. Big fat NO!! Car is too old and with the trade value offered it wont work for me. Oh well.
