Default single chamber mufflers

I'm looking for some pics of any single chamber mufflers in the factory muffler location. I was thinking like a flowmaster 10 series or something similar. I searched and found plenty of pictures of them in true dual setups and a few in the i pipe under the passenger seat. I was thinking about running one in the factory location turned sideways. I'm ok with only having one tip out the back also. I just want to see how it is mounted up back there.

I want to have a tip out the back to cut down on the drone just a tad. I have a T/A so one tip out the left will look ok. I'm thinking it will be similar to the 2OTL that SLP used to make. I just have no idea where to mount everything up at. Are the single chambers bigger or smaller than an 80 series? I have an 80 on my car now. I'm just wanting a different sound. I like how the 10 series sounds a lot. I have no desire for headers or anything so for a little more growl I was thinking about fabbing up a 10 series in there or buy a loudmouth. The 10 series would probably be the cheaper route since I would just have to buy the muffler and weld it in somehow.

Give me a month and ill have some pics and video. Waiting on my tsp y to show up. I bought a 3" in dual 2.5" out fm 10. Im going to mount it longways with the dual end pointing toward the bumper and run 2 pipes off of it and out the back. I think itll fit...

1 7/8 hooker super comps into a tsp y then cut and fitted to a 3.5" I pipe, over the axle then into the muffler. I figure that setup should help combat rasp and drone.

I didn't know they made that muffler in a dual out option. I would just do that and not worry about it ha ha. It would be like the 80 series, but better. If I'm understanding that right.

the only issue is; if you mount the muffler the same way as the 80 series sits, the exits will both be on the same side. the 80 series has exits on both sides. the fm 10 setup i want to use will have to sit parallel to the car (in facing front and out facing back) to work effectively, i think. the muffler is small so i think it will fit like i want it to and still offer enough room to run the 2 pipes over and out the factory exhaust exits. i have yet to hear a setup like this, anywhere. there is definitely nothing around here set up like that. i figure it'll be loud as hell, but having dual 2.5" exits should make for a decent sound. i just plan on painting the pipe black and leaving it straight cut. no tips or slash cut or any of that gay ****.

Its actually pretty mild. Deep and tough at idle, oddly high-pitched at wot. Its quieter than stock inside with no resonance or drone whatsoever. Im running mac mids and ory too

Keep in mind I have a LT1 but the sound both inside and out should be similar

A 1 chamber is a small muffler. Much smaller than an 80 series or the 30 series pictured above. Here is a photo of them(3") on my 67 Camaro.

I had them with dumped duals on my automatic SS for years. I really liked them but the drone in the cabin got old. With the gen 1 406 small block in my 67 and the 4 speed, I don't have to deal with drone. Motor turns enough rpm at cruise speed to be out of the drone rpm. Seems like it was the worst between 17-1900 rpm in my automatic car. I think that having one muffler and having it ran out the back would be better has far as drone goes. There is a moderator on here that ran one on his car for a while but I think he had a 4" and it was dumped before the axle.

Is it raspy like the cross flow 80 series always is with oryp's??? I would love to hear part throttle at 2000rpm in 3rd or 4th...

No rasp whatsoever, just the deep, hollow stereotypical flowmaster sound

I'm trying to find someone to drive the car and/or record me for a clip...will get one asap

I think I'm going to get one of these mufflers and put it on. Do you guys think I could just cut everything with a sawz all and then clamp the new muffler in place? I don't want to weld anything so I'm thinking if I cut everything before the hangers I can reuse the pipes and clamp the muffler on with v clamps or something.
