View Full Version : Big power REAL street cars- check in

Curious- Who here is running 800+rwhp and regularly drives that thing on the street? Drive it to work occasionally, to the store, cruise-ins, saturday nights in Mexico. You know what I'm talking about.

Disclaimer: I am NOT asking what you think a street car is. If it's stripped, that's fine I don't care. If you drive it on the street regularly, it's your street car IMO..DO NOT turn this into one of those threads where everyone argues on the definition.

What is your car? What is the combo? Maybe this is a good idea for a sticky because a lot of the same questions get asked over and over and a lot of guys have big ideas for 1000+hp street unicorns when they hit this section.

Who is doing it for real and what parts are you using?

Mine-

1- '02 C5 coupe- LSx/hyd roller/TFS heads (what rockers should I be looking at?) Twin TC-76s/Powerglide. Looking to trap 180..ish at the track. It is a no b.s., nothing removed, full weight, radio blaring, a/c blowing, power memory seat for my fat ass having, street car.

Budget build:
01 SS, M6
sam built 370 iron, hardbloked
317 heads
01 LS6 cam
F1A
Makes a "safe" 820rw on pump/meth last time dynoed. I do my own tuning now so maybe a little more power..
Sounds stock except for the blower noise. Car has a/c, stereo and I drive it everywhere on weekends.

I havn't hit 800rwhp yet but it should be there by the weekend hopefully over 900 but I drive my car everyday and its still has ac, heat, factory seats, car weights 3750 with me in it. My car is a 2000 TA Heintz built 370/10.7 cr with a F1A procharger, RPM level 7 4l65, 3600 Vigi, with a Moser 9 inch with 3.42 gears and Kooks 1 7/8 headers with Kooks true duals. thanks jeff

IDGAF but i call bs on 180 mph trap speed. It takes Atomicfusion a very well built car to do that. It will take 1600rwhp @ 3500lbs. More power if you do it just not gonna happen on hydraulic roller and live.

Stock bottom LS1
D1 (5.5psi), cam, BBK intake, ect ect.. MWC 9", full suspension

I'm planning to max out my D1SC once my forged shorblock gets re-installed and it's a full street car that I drive to work 1-2 days a week during the summer. We'll see how much it makes when I get it together.

FLT STG 5

Should be right in that ballpark, and I guarantee you I will have no problems going to get groceries, on dates, or tracking it every now and again.

I seem to recall a lot of cars that went 180s on hydraulic roller motors...

Anyone else care to add to the original subject of the tread instead of take away from it? If you come into this thread without a car just to bash other's goals, :gtfo:

I drive mine a fair amount over the weekends and stuff. Calculators last year said it was nead 800 rwhp running 9.5@152 weight 3600#. Looking to run a much better number with year after and new motor and turbo stuff comes together.

I also know MikeP2002 with his 383 D1 procharged C5 has made 800 rwhp and he puts 10k plus miles on his car a year. He drives that thing all the time

On another note the car will be getting a long list of parts here in about a month but as of right now I've put a couple thousand street miles, 20+ 1/8th track Passes and many many "Mexico" highway pulls. I cant wait to redo some things and see how she does!!

My POS compared to you guys runs mid nines. It's a ls1 still on stock main bolts 80mm turbo got 25 mpg highway on the 2010 hot rod power tour. We drove thousands of miles on that trip. I drive it all the time, it is getting a little low on oil pressure lately, put some 20w50 in it and still driving it.

Car runs and drives, drove it to work all the time last year, get groceries in it, its quiet w/ full exhaust...I had stickers on each side of the WS6 hood that said "700HP" and people laughed and thought it was a joke (car is so quiet) :D ...so I took them off....ya why lie :). Havnt got it out this year yet, currently putting a moly 10pt 8.50 cage in it. Should be out in a couple weeks...will be driven all over all the time.

370, comp 80/79 turbo,9 inch,t brake, full suspension. Drive it almost every day. Ac,back seat, full option and weight. Have taken it in 1000 mile trips on the week end, still get 23mpg highway. I have moved furniture in it, let the gf take it to work when her car was broken, the whole 9 yards. A real "no special instruction" street car. Did 777 whp. Should go 9s this year, low 10 last year with 200whp less and no suspension or t brake.

Couldn't tell ya. I won't drive it until this summer. It has a 3.42 rear gear and is on 28" tire so rpms around town won't be bad at all. I don't really want to run 75mph down the highway all day, but a 100 miles a weekend isn't out of the question. I think it will be a riot.

Any of you guys running A2W intercoolers and driving on the street? What intercooler and and how many gallons of water in your water tank? Are you using the water tank for the intercooler and for your motor or are you running a radiator separate from the A2W setup for the motor? I am leaning hard towards A2W with a intercooler from frozenboost.com and a 5 gal water tank for Chiseled Performance. I really don't want to cut a big ass rectangle in my front airdam and would benifit from the extra weight in the rear of my El camino if i had a water tank next to my fuel cell. Are you guys having any cooling issues as far as motor running too cold or too hot?

Thanks fellas,
Dee

um, made 620 on pump gas and 10#, made a lot more on race gas, but I have no use for driving around town on race gas, so I just keep the small tune up in it.

No back seat, but stock everything else as far as interior. has no AC, but still has heat (just need to connect the 2 lines to the heater core, but it still has the heater half of the HVAC box)

I cruise it around just fine, to and from work, to and from school, spent this afternoon cruising around woodward and stuff. While I don't drive it around turned up (only because i'm not spending a lot of money on race fuel just to cruise) it is capable and has made some decent numbers.

I consider my car to be a true daily driver. Full weight/full interior car, big stereo system and ice cold A/C. I wouldn't say it's a budget build but I have quality parts and I wouldn't think twice to drive it on a 1000mi round trip.

Dual intank pumps w/#8 feed, factory feed as return, Speed Inc fuel rails, boost-referenced Aeromotive FPR, FIC1000 injectors
Built T56 with Stage 6 Monster clutch (clutch is holding great, tranny is another story)
810rwhp/880rwtq on 18psi and 14* (very low) timing in 100* + heat index
I think 900hp is possible in better weather on 21 psi and more timing but I don't want to push backpressure. I would need another fuel pump though; probably just add on an in-line pump.
950rwhp might be possible with same everything and 5.3L motor

Clean car

um, made 620 on pump gas and 10#, made a lot more on race gas, but I have no use for driving around town on race gas, so I just keep the small tune up in it.

Thanks fellas,
Dee

check out mine here.... I have the A2W intercooler from frozen boost...

Was 780's(rwhp)-(11psi) and daily driven on a stock bottom end LS6 for a long time. 120,000 miles on the car(not on that engine) and it was great. It was a heads/cam twin precision 67mm PTK kit(same as on your vette but I have smaller turbos) on 93 pump gas and never meth. Seemed to have no issues ever, air to air all the way, even though I do have an air to water if I need but never will I don't think. Now bigger cubes, bigger heads, more boost, e85 and a real fuel system this time.

AC, leather, all that good shit. Been in many rain storms,...sucked but always managed. Currently running but getting a catback made currently. No new dyno numbers but I am hopeful for bookoo results. I'll drive it often.

I think it is a 6" opening but I don't remember 100% when I put that "race cover" on it, I had to buy a new filter. I searched for a week and couldn't find one so I called Bill@Bullseye and he set me up with that. It's a filter made by AFe (they make a lot of diesel truck cold air intakes and stuff)

car was a forged 346, afr 225s, truck kit with a pt76gts 6 speed, 12 bolt with 3.90s and 28 inch tire made 832 to the tires on 93/meth and 18psi

it drove like it was stock and had a full interior with power everything minus ac wouldnt hesitate to drive it anywhere just got bored so the new setup is a forced inductions budget gt91 on a callies and wiseco 370 hopping for 1000-1100 on pump gas and plan to drive it just as much if not more than the old setup

I have a twin turbo 2009 CTS-V that I daily drive. I made 809 hp at 8.5 psi on a mustang dyno at 6000 rpm. Car runs to 7100 rpm but had some traction problems on the dyno so numbers drop off after 6000 rpm. I do have the car tuned to 15 psi as well but no good dyno pulls because traction was a sever problem with Michelin sport cup tires. I hope to have ECS run the car on there dynapack dyno soon so I can have a guaranteed dyno pull with no traction issues. I also hope to get to the track very soon for some nice MPH runs with some Mickey Thompson's on.

My build is as follows:
434 LSX Block, Callies Ultra BILLET polished crankshaft, 6Bolt Hd Flex Plate, Callies Ultra Billet Rods, Wiesco turbo dished pistons, Cam Motion Cam, Comp Cams Hi-Tech Pushrods, Ferrea Springs, Titanium retainers, C5R Timing chain, CNC Ported 6 bolt GM LSX LS7 Cylinder Heads, LSX 6 bolt stud kit ARP, ARP Studs, Garrett Twin Turbos GTX35R, and Tial Sport Blow Off Valves

FUck, that thing is sick too. I love those CTS Vs.

I don't consider mine "Big" power at 1070rwhp, there are a ton of 1500+rwhp street cars in DFW, however mine is 100% streetcar that sees the track as much as possible... built to drive in 5 O'clock traffic 110*+ Texas heat, and does it without a fuss...

Dude that is soooooo SYK I love your Vette and the other awesome cars in this thread.

It is threads like this that got me hooked on LS1Tech and sustain me as I plan, scrimp and save for the X-Celerator.
