Too much exhaust is getting in the car when I run the heat during a stop. I need better collector gaskets. What do you recommend? Felpro? Mr. Gasket?

Any of these good for a tight seal?

I run dead soft aluminum gaskets, but they do leak, however I do not care because they don't leave any mess if I'm taking the y-pipe out.
Are you absolutely sure, without a doubt, posolutely, one-hundred percent sure your headers are not leaking?

I run the Felpro 2001 on my manual cutout cap. They work great and come right off without ripping when I open the cutout. You have to keep snugging them up like header gaskets til they take a set.

On my collectors I use copper, then for my cutouts the gaskets that came with them.

Percy dead soft aluminum gaskets. At worst they might barely leak but wont burn or blow out.

You sure the collectors are leaking? It would have to be a hell of a leak for you to smell it, chances are it's just the wind blowing the fumes back into your car. Sitting at stoplights or in traffic with a tail wind sucks.

The smell is real strong when I'm at a stop and I have the windows open. The header bolts are on at tight as I can get them. I was thinking that the #1 primary tube is leaking since I never put any gasket sealer on but I doubt all the fumes are coming from that one primary.

The SLP tailpipes are on the driver side and I have no cats so it could be possible it could all be wafting in from the rear. I just hate reaking of fuel every time I drive and have the windows open or use the heat.

I was thinking of getting on of those cheap CO detectors and placing it near all the pipes to maybe get a general idea what's leaking if anything at all.

They kept blowing on me; I cut the flanges off, welded on a section of swolen tube and made a slip fit with 3" wide band clamps.
Have not had an issue (clearance or leaks) since :)

Try Remflex gaskets.

I had a header gasket leak that only Earl's pressure master graphite foil gasket could fix....apparently they really do seal 1200% better as advertised lol. Nicest gaskets I've ever seen....they make high quality collector gaskets too worth taking a look at:

That's what I use and have never had a leak.

I just got these from Summit today and it says on the back of the package "Not for use with flange on flange." Apparently they're for slip fit flanges only. Don't recall it saying that on Summit. I'll check again when Summit's website is back up.

I'll have to try these Remflex gaskets:

I have pretty much converted to slip connectors and Stainless band clamps. more ground clearance and better seal

Is there a way to do this with the existing y pipe?

I'll try the 30 dollar gaskets first though.
