I have a 2000 SS m6 that is bone stock except i have a FIPK and straights on it. I have about $1200 or so to play around with. I've searched through tons of options and kinda have a mental list of upgrades that i could do, but i want to put my money somewhere that will make a big difference. what mods would you guys reccommend for a stockie cam, intake, LTs, tune, or suspension?

With $1200 you can probably look on c-list for a ls6 intake, Cai,and some used headers & catback.

I have a K&N FIPK cold air intake. would i benefit more off of the ls6 intake or maybe a holley 300-111

Well I'm a fan of the ls6 but if I would upgrade it would be for a fast intake. But for 1200$ I would work on bolton's.

headers, clutch, poly motor mounts and n2o. i wouldn't bother with much susp given it's on the stock rear. maybe a racetronix setup if you've got the money.

That doesn't even make sense.

it's an m6 car. so let's hook all of the power we can and decrease its already short life. what's to misunderstand? i've been through 3 of them haha.

Get LT's, ls6 intake/ported TB, and then work on suspension. I would reccomend just saving what cash you have left over until you have the funds for koni shocks and strano springs.

If it were mine I would buy a set of headers and ORY (500 ish) and a Borla XR1 muffler (130). Take it to an exhaust shop and let them run 3 inch pipe off the ORY and hook it into your Borla and then dump it. An exhaust shop wouldn't charge 50 bucks to hook it up. I'm running the same set up on my Z28 and before the cam it wasn't loud at all imo. I was kind of disappointed at how quiet it was at idle. The cam woke it up but its still nothing like true duals loud. After the exhaust your looking at right around 700. I'd put on some subframe connectors. I have ran 4.10s in both my cars but they never saw sticky tires. If you plan on going to the track I wouldnt' swap gears because the 10 bolt will die eventually. I also wouldn't do 4.10s if you had to pay a shop to do them. By the time you paid for the gears and labor you'd have a good start on a 9". So exhaust 700, connectors 175, 4.10s 200 ish if you can do it yourself, then I'd be saving for a clutch.

thanks for the advice guys. i have a good driveline except for the 10 bolt. i had te t56 built 900 miles ago and put the upgraded parts in it as well as new clutch and flywheel. im also running 285/40/17 nitto 555's in the rear and they are pretty sticky, no unwanted wheelspin on the street.

A great Budget mod is a set of BBK Headers/Y-Pipe. They come as race headers with no EGR/Air/Cats but are great quality and fit well. PM me whatever mods you decide to go with, I may be able to help you stretch the budget a bit more!

Another vote for the BBK headers + ORY. From there I would go with an LS6 intake and port/polished throttle body. Should be a nice gain.

Another route -- gears would be fun however it's tough to rationalize putting more money in the 10-bolt rear.

TSP headers, bilstein shocks, and little maintenance with your leftovers (I did sparkplugs replaced with AC delcos @ $70) headers will run ya about $600, the shocks $450 shipped, if you have any left... put it up for a tune :). I Just did all that to my car, and added a lid and chrs1313 RA.. just installed the ra last night and haven't driven it yet, but all the other mods made it feel like a new car and a lot more beastly, can't wait to get her back out to the track.. just I guess but I would imagine im at 350-360RWHP now :D

a properly set up suspension will if anything benefit a 10bolt, rather than the wheel hop bound garbage stock suspension.

Didn't all the fbody's get the LS6 intake starting with the 2000 model year?

just 01's and 02s

Even if that's the case, I would double-check the intake to make sure. Based on production date variances, I'd say that although unlikely, it's still possible that he already has one:confused:

the only prob with buying a 9" is all of the supporting hardware that must go with it. clutch, scattershield, driveshaft, etc. so now your $2500 investment just went to $3500 in a hurry.

Didnt say the 10bolt was worth dropping money into, swapping for something different is a given. Every 4th gen Ive been in if you drop the clutch in the burnout box its wheel hopped like a mother, maybe yours is a factory freak. Thats just my experience. With the suspension mods in my sig i completly got rid of the wheel hop and got some lower 60'
