Default buddy spec'd me a cam. can i get some inputs?

Specs on the cam are 230/236 612/615 112 lsa on xfi lobes.

What do you guys think?

It's going to have a set of 243's going along with it. And also some nitrous. I'm thinking about a 150 hit.

99 z28 m6, stock gears.

Looks fine to me, should have near stock driveability with a good tune.

That cam and "stock gears" will not have "near stock driveability".

In fact I wouldn't run it with stock gears...

I don't plan on running stock gears forever. Just for the first few weeks that I get the car running.

Any more inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Like what kind of power would I be looking at?

i had a ls2 with a 230/238 .600/.604 112+2 with 3.55's and it drove just fine in 6th at 1200 rpm's....... why not get a more aggressive lobe? they make more power.. you can have the same cam 230/236 .592/.602 112 lsa on xer lobes for the same price, or you could get a aggressive ramp intake lobe and a soft exhaust lobe like a lsl/lxl cam 231/238 .617/.615 112 lsa.... i sold the 230/238 i had and bought a lsl/lxl cam 239/246. A friend of mine has a 232/236 xer cam in his 3.42 geared 98 ls1 car and his car drives just fine also

did you already have teh cam cut? and if youre set in those specs id suggest a 230/236 but with an XER instead of XFI exhaust lobe.

230/236 .612/.602 112+2

It's an old keith mccord spec, crazy mid-range

How much do you drive your car and what are you looking to get out of your combo? you never stated if you even had headers or not. From the sound of things id think youd be looking for a more streetable, easy to drive, but still have good power setup.

I say get the 243's milled and run a 227/234 .615/.612 113+4 LSL/LXL and you could keep your stock gears

Go 4.11 when you can, looks like a bottle cam. Should take the nitrous well.

Sorry guys forgot to mention the car is a full Bolton car, tuning will not be an issue. Lid, longtubes, ls6 intake/85mm throttle body. Currently has 100 shot as well.
Car is not a daily driver, more if a weekend warrior car.
I would love an aggressive setup, with lots of midrange without sacrficing topend. I'm looking for mid 400's on motor, then I plan on adding nitrous on top too. I will have two different maps, one for motor and one for nitrous.

Car will drive fine with stock gears on a good street tune. I have a Torquer V3 which is on a 111 lsa and .643 lift and have no problems with stock gears. HAVING to have steep gears with a mid-size cam is a bit inflated on here. 3.90's or 4.10's would be fun but not necessary.

Actualy I prefer opposite & I run such a lobe combo (sig). XFI intake/XER exhaust. Actually I have used 230/236 but on 111 LSA

I'd go with a 114lsa. It will slightly move the power range up a bit and give you great mid range and top end. you have nitrous so you dont need to worry about low end power. Plus it will make it slightly more streetable even though it isnt a crazy big cam anyway.

I think that'll be a good cam, so how much advance will it have +2*, or +3* ?
BTW, you have the wrong lobe lift listed for the 236 XFI exhaust lobes: it's .607"..

I would put 3.73's at most if you plan to have H/C-150 shot and be more of a street driver. You'll be going through the years extremely quick with 4.10's, but that would be fine if it's a track oriented car.

Nothing wrong with that cam.

Looks like a great cam. As others have said if your tuner can't make that drive extremely close to stock then get a new tuner.

My car was the first I've ever tuned and it runs and drives great. I would hope a "professional" could do as good or better.
