Default 5.3 S10 Build

I am ready to start my build. My truck has the stock 4.3 V6 and I'm ready to upgrade to the 5.3. I decided where I was going to buy my stuff. I am getting the following items for $2000 and everything is coming out of the same vehicle with 70k miles on it.
- Motor
- Trans
- Harness
- Computer
- All front end parts ( ex. Alternator, AC, Radiator )
- Other small parts he said I would need.

If you can't tell.. I don't know a lot of what I'm doing. I know people who are going to help me with putting everything together. I'm still way new. Thanks a lot guys! Any information would be helpful!

I dont think a full size radiator or AC condensor is going to fit in an S10 so id look into that first and I do think 2k is a bit steep as I usually see 5.3 from 400-800 but if you know its all in great shape theres always abvalue in peace of mind right . Goodluck on build and keep it updated for us.

Thanks for the reply! So could I keep my current AC setup or would that not work either? Will do and thanks again!

A/C: use the KWIK Performance relocation bracket or notch the passenger frame.

Oil Pan: H3 Hummer oil pan

Cooling: Dont change your radiator, run the best Spahl fans you can fit and a 5th gen Camaro water pump works great in getting everything to fit.

Trans Dapt motor mounts, gunna have to modify your trans cross member or make one

Evap Solonoid: Delete it and plug the hole. Its not needed and it will hit the stock hood. The vortec cover wont fit either.

what year is your truck? if its an OBD2 truck there is no need in making a stand alone wiring harness merge the 5.3 harness in with your factory fuse block and all of your gauges and dash lights will work. if its an OBD1 or earlier truck make a stand alone harness and utilize the 4.3 harness for the gauge sensors.

Thanks for the reply! This is awesome information! Does your S10 have the 5.3? My truck is a 1991! Is all this info still the same? Should everything work right?

Okay, like I said.. I'm a complete noob at this stuff. But I was told that I should use the 700r4 instead of the 4l60e.. Is this possible? His reasoning was that the 700r4 has a pretty stout 1st and 2nd gear.. Which I would have to agree with. That's what I'm currently running on my 4.3. Can this be done? If so, would I need new tranny mounts or what? Also, which one would you suggest..?

Dont run the 700R4. Run a 4l60E which is what came behind the 5.3. The 4l60e is the newer (electronic) version of the 700r4. Gearing is the same. Shifting is controlled by the PCM.

Read the sticky here. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f213/l...mation-390967/ Has most everything you need to know.

This should be a bad *** truck. What are your plans for the engine? You gonna keep it stock or throw a different intake, cam, heads, etc on?
