Nah, there is no wrong section when it comes to Shelby himself...this (horrible) news about the loss of such a HUGE and influential legend/icon/hero of the automotive performance world would even be appropriate in the 'detailing/appearance' section.
I was just talking about him and how sick he was lately to someone last week and I'd even said that we will probably be hearing about his passing inside of the next 6 months, I guess I fell a little short on that one.

Although most of his work was on the horrible blue oval division, a true automotive legend has left us. Maybe he saw the direction the new Mustang was going and knew he would have to be part of it.

He was on his third heart & lived 50 yrs after receiving the first. @ 89, he had his time & lived a better life than most.
IMO, Shelby branding is overrated. In the 60's the Shelby stuff had merit. Now a days, it's just more trinkets on an already over sold model.

I hate Ford and the GT Mudstain as well as every other Ford product;
however;
Shelby is, was a Motorsports Icon and inovator. My condolences and respect to him and his family. Well done Carrol, well done.
Can you imagine the impact he would have had on the Red Bowtie had he went in that direction? Incomprehensible!!

Well the way I see it he may have worked for company's I never cared for but I think we would all agree that his work on making the blue oval better had an indirect improvement in some of our bow ties to compete. Like his work with the viper that caused the step up in vettes over the years. Of course he wasnt the only competition for us to improve our rides for.

Yes he was at Ford for most of his (early on and then again in his final years) career as many above had mentioned. But let's not also forget the Chrysler/Dodge (FWD turbo cars) years as well as his influence/hand in the first generation Viper.
And of course he did dabble ever so lightly in the GM world when he used the Oldsmobile Aurora (aka: little Northstar) DOHC 32V V8s in his own ground up supercar (Shelby Series I).
