Default took my z28 to the track

After having my car for a year I decided to take it to the local 1/8 mile track. It is an 2002 z28 full weight except jack and spare tire. It has longtubes ory magnaflow catback and an slp lid. It has the stock stall and 2.73 gears and I was on a set of 245/50/16 nitto 555r's. My first pass was a 8.73 at 83.64 with a little wheelspin and a 2.10 60ft. I let the car cool off for about 30 minutes and went an 8.69 at 84.25 with a 2.06 60ft and dead hooked. Later on I tried launching off idle and went an 8.75 at 83.95 and an 8.71 at 84.12. I wasn't impressed with it but also wasn't dissapointed lol. Now to do plugs, new air filter and fuel filter and hope for 8.50's at 85

Sounds about right. Make sure you do the free mods, especially the FRA mod. It works and doesn't cost you a thing.

If your budget allows, get some 3.73s and a good tune.

do you have the fra and front swaybar removed. I am thinking about doing those 2 mods and hoping for some improvement. I think my car should be in the 8.40 range

I pulled the swaybar and ran the car last night. My first pass was an 8.69, I didn't see the mph because the timeslip printer was screwed up. After that a car oiled down the track and closed it for about 45 minutes. I get in the staging lanes and line up against about a 70 nova drag car and loose by about 3 lengths and neither of us got timeslips and the board said no time. I let the car sit for a few minutes and see that the timing board is working so I run again. This time it was against a 55 chevy 2dr with big street tires stuck out the fenders, as we pull into the waterbox he is revving the crap out of it to the point I can barely hear my car. After we stage and leave I never saw his car. lol It made me feel good about my slow street car. I pull to the return road and they still hadn't fixed the timeslip printer and the timeshack was vacant so I went home.

if you havent done the FRA, then DO IT!!! cut out the base of airbox with a cutoff wheel, and cut the plastic shroud below it all the way across the top of the radiator with some tin snips or the cutoff wheel

Get a 3400-4000 converter. You will be shocked at the difference.

With a converter you shouldn't have a problem getting into the 7s at all! 3600-3800 should get the job done with ease!

any idea on what your raceweight is. My car weighs 3580 with me in it. I weigh 180 and the only weight reduction is the swaybar and no spare tire or jack.

I went to the track again and it was around 2000 da so the runs were nothing special at all. The car ran 8.80's at 83 for the most of the night. The best pass was an 8.78 at 83.5. They were having a king of the street race for $100 and it was free to enter so I entered. I ended up lining up against the fastest car is the class that ran 6.90's at 100 or so first round and lost. I went my slowest pass ever in that race with a 9.08 at 82 and a 2.3 60ft because i did a horrible burnout. I am the 2nd camaro in the video. Feel free to laugh lol

I am planning on buying a converter in about 2 weeks. With a 3600 stall I am hoping to go 8.0's or so
