Default Very high idle problem after new intake manifold

I just put a typhoon intake and throttle body and after it started up its been running a bit rough, but when I shift it into first the car idles up to 2100 rpms and holds there while im driving. i dont even need to touch the gas to climb my hill in first gear. It stays high idle when its moving but when I come to a stop it idles back down to 1000 then back to normal. Its an 02 firebird with 85mm throttle body and intake manifold, an 80mm slp maf, and the k&n intake kit. just put in new plugs and wires a month ago. Service engine light is on, havent ran codes though

Try doing a TPS relearn first. then make sure your throttle cable is good. Then if that doesnt work sounds like a vacuum leak to me if its idleing high and takes a while to settle back down to idle.

^^^^ this. also make sure the tps is reading around .57v. did you change the tb at the same time with the intake? if so, check the hole in the throttle blade to see if the new throttle blade has a bigger one than the one you took off. if the hole sizes are different then you will need tuning for the iac to compensate for the extra air the tb is letting in. otherwise i would think vaccume leak as well.

I put the new tb and throttle body on in the same go there both professional products 85mm inlet. Ill check the size of the inlet but by tuning do you mean getting the ecu flashed tuned?

I also poked around for a vacuum leak i didn't find one on the front, and from what i can feel the rear vacuum lines are plugged in. i did notice when it idled for a bit the both the down pipes were slightly glowing right before the y pipe is it normal for there to get so hot?

unless you forgot to plug in a vacuum hose or something similar, your going to have a hard time finding your vacuum leak by looking

Don't drill your TB blade....that's an old way of doing things and isn't the correct way to fix the problem. Reset the TPS and put some miles on it. Regardless if it gets better these intakes need to be tuned to run good!!

Wait, are you saying your headers were glowing just idling? I am definitely no expert, but that seems too hot. I think you need to be very cautious, you may have a couple of lean cylinders which suggests a vacuum leak to me.

First. The glowing is a no go. Second. You have a vac leak. Third. I have the 96mm typhoon and it leaked as well. I tack glued the gaskets to the manifold and then added cork gasket that I cut to fit to the throttle body. Stop all leaks. Car drove itself. Now I drive it. It's metal. It expands when heated. It leaks. It is weird that your idle drops down though. Good luck. I love my typhoon now.

Ok so ran the codes got
P0102 MAF low voltage. just put a new slp 80mm
P0300 Misfire on startup. came up as pending cause the issues not ongoing guessing it was just when the fuel system was replaced and it had to repressurize
P0452 Evap pressure sensor low
P1369 PCM 5 Volt Reference Voltage Circuit Condition....wtf? does that mean somethings grounded

the glowing i noticed earlier was right where the catalytics connect to exhause manifold and its very faint glow, only noticed it when the lights were off in the garage.

sorry for takin a bit to get back, got a farm to run car gets put on the back burner sometimes thanks for the input so far

Ive done the carb cleaner trick, when i say i felt around i was feeling for the 2 vacuum lines in the back of the manifold to see if they popped off which they hadnt. Ill pull the slp out and see what happens

If you haven't been tuned for a different MAF you need to use a stock one. Period.

Aside from that is sounds like you indeed might have a bad ground, pinched wires, and/or vacuum leaks.

Are you sure you connected the hose for the brake booster? Mine broke off the LS6 intake a couple weeks ago and it idled right at 2100rpm. Sounds like a vacuum leak to me.
