Default Finally hit 11s update!

To start off the car was tuned thursday and put down 420hp and 395tq through a stock throttle body and ls6 intake. So i figured id take it to the track on friday and thats when the confusion starts.

The car is a 2000 ws6 with 53,000 miles, it weighs 3200lbs , mods are full umi tubular suspension, moser 12 bolt, tick stage 2 trans, ls7 clutch, prc stage 2.5 ls6 heads, ms3 cam, intake, and full bolt ons. The first pass i glazed the clutch in third pretty bad but let it cool and made a few more passes granny shifting,

made it to a 12.0 at 114 with a 1.76 60ft on 10in wide qtps. My confusion is where in the hell did the mph go???? I was guessing even with the clutch glazed it felt fine granny shifting, it would have went 117 118 and around 120 power shifting... Any suggestions would help!

UPDATE 6/16/12

Fixed a few problems on the car and decided to take it back to the track and i can say im pretty happy with the result and i know there is much more in it. heres a picture of the time slips and the 11.6 run.

The heat. I had this same problem and have been reading posts from other members, all of us making similar power and all running 11.9-12.0@114-116. The hot weather has a big effect on these N/A setups. Where are you located? Im at sea level but have been seeing 2000+ DA on my runs, most of the locals are down about 3-4 tenths and a few mph right now compared to feb/march.

Drag times has a good app for calculating corrected DA. Keep an eye on the DA...it makes a big difference!

I always run 2-3 tenths slower in the heat.

Do you know what the DA was? That has a big impact on running a good e.t./mph. Were you spinning before or hooking with the 117-120 mph passes. When you hook the mph will be lower.

Yeah DA isn't just based on temperature... Elevation, humidity/dewpoint, and air pressure are all deciding factors on DA... so it could be 60 degrees and still equilavent to 3000ft altitude.

With correction i bet you're into 11s; but if you're like me benchracing means nothing... I'm stuck at 12.2 @ 114 on a 1.9 60ft with 405rwhp, but it was 2200ft DA. I'm hoping to touch 11s when i'm closer to sea level.

I started to check over plugs and wires and put my hand on the intake and it moved. I went over every bolt on the intake and throttle body and they were hand tightened. I noticed i was getting some oil smoke as well so i went over the valve covers and they were hand tightened as well. Lastly i changed the exhaust and it all seemed to help. Im thinking next outing of launching at 6000 to see how it reacts. Then also getting a shift light so i know where to shift at i looked down on one shift and i had shifted around 6100 or 6200 so i know theres more left!!!

DA was 2,001 as well.

I can see you possibly going some 11.3's in the cooler months and lower DA.

I would love to go 11.3s with the stock throttle body and ls6 intake. I plan on going with the fast 102 combo and hopefully going bottom 11s. Ultimate goal would be to lose a little bit more weight and possibly hit a 10.9x but thats all a dream for now lol

Went to the track again last night and had a couple best. Ran a best of 11.46 at 120. Also had a best 60 of 1.58 and a best mph of 123. Pretty happy with it but still spinning with the qtps so its time for true slicks!!!

11.46@120 is awesome! Reading posts like yours make me anxious to get my h/c/I work done. Be sure to update after getting some slicks and front skinnies.

Ran a new best of 11.3 at 121 with a 1.58 60 on slicks, bogging a little bit.
Here is an iphone video. At the end of the run you can here the clutch slip!
Cut a 1.56 earlier that night but clutch slipped again

You're easy 10's but need to fix that slipping clutch issue first. No sense in even worrying about improving traction before that. Good runs.

Yea im def done for the year i dont think the ls7 can handle anymore. Im going with a monster stage 3 clutch then putting strange adjustables and a mwc torque arm to replace the umi one i have. After a fast intake and throttle body and retune i see no reason why i cant hit 10s next year then a 150 shot
