Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 - Who daily drives their WS6/Firehawk?

I drive mine about 20k a year.

I feel guilty but at the same time i enjoy it.
My job is in Sales so every so often I'll have appts out of the office with certain clients.

It's so damn enjoyable though, i could never see myself driving a Honda every day. It makes more sense to preserve the bird, but i want to enjoy it too.

Anyone else daily drive their bird as their true commuter???

50 miles round trip a day here on my Hawk. Daily'd my '02 WS6 as well.

I do about 62 mile daily commute in 2000 Fornula WS6, and I love it!

I daily drive my 402 Firehawk ;) Not really built for city driving, but it sure is fun.

i daily drive my ws6 during the summer/fall. Probably put about 8k on er per year

From Jan 02 - Mar 07 I drove my CETA daily. But my job was only 2.5 miles away....so after work sometimes I would take the 20 mile long way home. Haha
Since 07 it's been retired to weekend fun car/show car.

Daily mine

50-60 miles driven daily here. 2001 WS6.

I daily mine but I don't put a bunch of miles on it. I only work 3 days a week with a 30 mile round trip. I do take it out now and then for errands and such

50 miles round trip a day here on my Hawk. Daily'd my '02 WS6 as well.

When you think about it we spend a ton of time in our cars. I wish i had two of them so i could preserve one, and then keep the other for fun factor. I wouldnt feel so guilty knowing i had another in the stable at home.

i agree. that's my goal. once i pay mine off id like to get another one and restore my ws6.

Daily drive my 2000 ws6 formula to the tune of 219k.

Daily mine for now, until I get another car to beat on. I really need a beater for short trips, especially to walmart where I'm scared leaving my car.

My DD now is a one owner 99 TA with a few bolt ons but back in the day i used my turbo WS6 3-4 days a week and loved it. The LS1 gets very good MPG for a mid displacment V8 as long as you keep your foot out of it. Plus they will last forever if you take care of them.

I drove my '99 WS6 Formula daily for the last 2-1/2 years, but recently decided to switch back to another one of our cars since I've got two boys under age 3 and getting them in and out of car seats is tough on my back some days.

If it's a nice day, and I don't have to pick up the boys then I still usually drive the WS6.

When I don't ride my bike, I daily my WS6.

I agree could never see driving a Honda every day, I like driving something with a good combination of power, braking, and handling which is why I used to drive my GTA daily years ago. These days I only take my WS6 to work if there's a race, show, or cruise I'm going to that night and leave my AMG for the daily commute.

just clicked 105,000 on my 2000 WS6 and I DD her

This is why i like to DD my car. You never know who you might meet (gas station, car wash, work, etc)

I dd my 98 WS6, 100 miles a day. Today it just rolled over on 194,000 miles, original motor untouched, original trans, original rearend. The car has a few bolt-on's but the valve covers have never even been off. The car gets put through the paces multiple times a day, but then again I'm pretty particular bout routine maintenance. Also, my girl has kinda taken over my 01 WS6, which I purchased about a year ago with 78,000 miles on it. The car now has 110,000 miles on it! Can't stand to let these things sit around, they been the best cars I've ever owned.

It just goes to show if you take care of them they will take care of you. I beat the hell out of my 2000 WS6 for 3 years. I think the stock driveline had over 100 passes on it when i upgraded to a built trany and 12 bolt. Of course at that point i was only bolted and i think my best pass before the big mods was like a 13.1 :jest:

Not any more. 16:1 compression and a 7000 stall don't tend to make a good daily driver.:(

The wagon has taken that over as the DD.

I've daily driven my 01 WS6 since 2005 at about 160 miles per day commute. I just hit 250,000 miles. If your gonna commute, commute with power and style... I'm just about ready to spring for a 402 for it so I'll be getting home a little sooner.... :naughty:

I see alot of F-bodies on the road as I commute so i know I'm not alone.... Mines is well taken care of.... when I tell people the mileage they are amazed..... take care of em an they will take care of you....... :cheers:

In all honesty, the miles suck but the cars are the most fun you drive them every day. My favorite memories of my 93 were when it was just a bolt on car and I daily drove it.

I DD mine with all the mods in sig, but you could never tell, I do a full detail every Saturday to keep her looking good :nod:

Not me. The 2002 Formula has 13,500 miles and gets driven about 500 miles a year to car shows.The TA has 137,000 miles is driven about 3000 miles a year to car shows and on nice days. I'd rather keep them looking pretty in the garage than drive them every day and worry about something happening to them.

From late March to early December, or whenever the snow starts to fly, I daily mine. Too much fun not to. In the months that bring the white death I drive whatever beater I have.
