Default rear drag setup problems

ok so here is the story...

i bought a set of 275/50 15 mickey tompson e/t streets for my goat. i put in the pedders spring spacers, 2 on each side, they r the biggest ones they have i forget how many mm... that did not give me enough room and still squats to bad and rubs on the passenger side. so i bought a set of drag bags and put them in and yes they are the ones for the gto. they drag bags work good when they dont leak. i ahve fixed a leak on both sides once already and now i am leaking again on the passnger side and back to rubin a ig cut in my tires. it is killing me not to be able to launch it when i want to. so question is. do i swap the bags for maybe the other kind that fits the gto, which is the mazda kind or whatver. or if i get a set of drag springs will it fix my problem all together. this is the tire size i want to run and dont want to go any smaller. suggestions?

Roll or grind the fenders down...less effort than all that Joe dirt suspension mods...

Do it right...all youre doing is bullshit stuff.

The spacers will help just sitting there but the rear springs are still too soft will make the car squat, and the drag bags unless you put in about 25 pounds don't do much.

Get a stiff drag spring and put it in with the drag bags

^^^^This. You need to get a 0 drop or 5/16" lift drag spring. Really, any decent drag spring will greatly reduce the amount of squat. Also, yes rolling the fender's helps. I run 20mm (1/2 to 3/4") rear drop springs, and run 275/40/17 street tires and was running 255/50/16 DR's and have never rubbed, and my fender's are not rolled. I think the biggest spacer's are 12mm, so with the sagging OEM springs, that may have only brought you up to normal stock height, then plus the squat due to a weak spring rate.

Do the drag springs still allow the car to handle on a curvy road pretty good?

It pretty much balances out.

Its a stiffer spring, but raises the COG. The GTO isnt really a do it all platform. You need to decide on one direction lol

I cut my fenders down to almost nothing and installed drag bags. With 1/2" lowering springs and 285's on +45 9.5" wheels out back there is no rubbing. I also took a big hammer to a few places on the inner fender. Anything under 5psi in the bags and a large bump result in some minor rubbing, 5psi and up and it's all good..

I noticed much improved handling, however, I went lower as well.

this car is not going to be set up for curvy roads or a road course or anything like that....it will be strickly for strip and street...i think i will keep my spacer and throw in some drag springs and sell my stock springs and bags and see how that goes. also i took off my mickey tompsons and bought some nitto 555 dr and they dont rub near as bad, but the problem is still there. i kind of regret buying a vararam yesterday now and a glock....i will have to free up some more funds and buy some springs i see plenty for sale. oh well, just add it to the never ending list of stuff i need for the car lol

Agreed. $175 tops for used springs IMO.
