How much is the GM Harness? You can get re-wired stock harnesses for around $250 and up and new harnesses from around $500 and up.

If your el camino had a 4.3, you already have the correct baffled tank and sender.......or buy a new replacement tank. I would use that instead of the caprice tank.

A lot of guys have had good luck with the BRP G-body headers. I am using pacesetter F-body headers, but they require minor modification.

1. Depends, the stock harness is actually not too difficult to rewire.

2. As far as I know the caprice tank won`t fit between the framerails, use a 4.3l el camino tank and sender.

3. From what I have seen it depends on your motor mounts, but I`m using manifolds so I have no firsthand knowledge.

4. They`re nice but $$$. I used a 8.5" cutlass 442/regal/ grand nat rear end which you can pick up fairly cheap if you are patient. Theres others using the stock 7.5" without problems.

Thanks for the help guys, keep the info flowing!! My Elcamino is a 5.0 with auto. The GM harness is around $ 750 from what I remember !!

As for the 9 inch Ford rear I have the following parts already

1. GTA LE Brakes & Brackets
2. Detroit locker & gears
3. N cases

I need the housing & axels, New boxed control arms!!

PS I rather pay to get the wiring done

Check out Maliburacing.com That site has all the info youll need. Id stick with the tank from a 4.3, the nine inch is heavy and will be custom in every way, get an eze locker and keep your 7.5 till a 8.5 grand national rear comes up for a reasonable price. Ive done the elco thing and dont worry its very hard to make one hook so the rear will live a while. Do the harness yourself and or have it done, much cheaper. Shorty headers for a fouth gen camaro or trans am will work but thats it unless you check out BRP. Good luck, I had an elco for my first car and love them dearly.

here,s a link to ECC on a caprice tank install, which I may do later.http://www.elcaminocentral.com/showthread.php?t=49271 .Modified my diesel tank in the 90's for tpi, fuel gauge quit & 4.3 tanks seem hard to find now. Problems with aftermarket tanks & lack of new 4.3 sending units make caprice tank seem like better idea.
Many have used 4th gen f-body headers on g- body swaps with some to little fittment issues. I,m considering replacing my 9year old S&P headers with the 1 3/4" stainless tsp headers that sell for $400. Have tig & portaband saw if needed.
I had my 99' harness modified into a stand alone harness since I had the money at the time, would do myself if were doing now.
On motor mountsI trimmed the stock mount bushings to fit in the g-body v-8 cradle mounts . Many options there.
I cut & reboxed crossmember to fit my f-body pan. Since you CAN,T use the gto pan, I,d get a factory musclecar pan they now have.
Also the recent ls1 swap book by shawn Henderson is pretty informative.
PS, some engine area pics on my photobucket link, excuse the rust.

Are you sure GM has a 24x LS2 harness? I thought they only had a 58x LS2/LS3 harnesses?

Yes the 2005-2006 GTO LS2 is definitely a 24x I have had one reworked by John at Speartech.

I haven`t even seen the late model B-Body wagon gas tank swapped in. Thats a great idea, I never would have thought it would have fit.
