New hood or paint it?
So to start off, this is my first post and i couldnt think of a better forum than this one so.. i have a 97 pontiac transam ws6 all blacked out and the hood was repainted and wasnt done that well and is starting to fade and looks like the surface of a orange when you look at it from the right angle. Anyways, in the near future i want to get it either re-painted or id like to get a carbon fiber hood with the dual hoodscoops
this is what i have now... http://ws6.bambeezer.com/opening2.jpg
this is the carbon fiber hood, i personally like the double scoop more
http://www.andysautosport.com/pontia...b00132311.html
and by the way, what is the cost of a good quality paint job for just a hood? (i live in california..)

Repaint the WS6 hood. That is the best looking hood for an LT1 trans am.
as for cost. i had my oem WS6 hood painted for $300-$400 (total bill was $730 but that included the headlight doors, the roof panel, and painting both the top and underside of the hood along with a little bit of repair to the hood before paint)
I personally do not like the look of unpainted carbon fiber, especially a whole hood. makes me think of some honda civic ricer.

Please dont get the LS1 hood for your LT1, thats the worst thing ever. Not only do the lines of the hood not fit with the car, it looks like crap. Also, carbon fiber hoods, as mentioned above, looks ricer. The OEM LT1 hood looks sleek and flows with the car much better. Repaint your OEM hood. You wont be disappointed.

Imo i wish i never would have switched hoods, there expensive, oem quality is much higher no matter what top company you get a hood from, shipping isnt cheap, then paint n body isnt cheap, i only paid 150 to have my hood painted but that was just primer/paint n clear, imo keep your hood and save your money, and if you want a cf hood wrapping it would be better just in case after 3 months you think it looks ricey or tackey ,
