Default 95 z28 vs 01 vert

Ok so there's this 01 gt vert in my town that was trying so hard to get me to race him since I've had my car. Well me and a fewfriends went out on a cruise and he decided to join well at on the way back to town I pull up to a stop light and here he comes, I automatically know what he wants, so it turns green and we both lay into it, I get 1-2 cars ahead and started to pull on him. I ended up winning by 3-3 1/2 cars. Needless to say I was impressed on how well my car ran against him, mods on the gt was exhaust, intake, bigger injectors, and short throw with a stage two clutch no tune (hence me winning). My car exhaust, cai, shift kit, and tune. hopefully when he gets a tune we can race again see results.

Anyone got ideas on how it should turn out with him having a tune?

You'll win, 01 GT's are pretty slow and the convertible weighs a pretty good amount IIRC

Ive raced plenty of 99-04 Gt's when i had my LT1 camaro's. They are not fast at all. They sound nice though and yes ofcourse if you dump ALOT of money into them you can make them fast. I think stock they pull 215-220 rwhp giver or take a little, ive seen some pull as low as 207rwhp. Depending on if he has headers or not and what other mods but he should probably gain about 8-12rwhp from a tune maybe give or take and depending on what type of tune and tuner. Honestly outcome wont be much different and my experience the higher the speeds the worse it gets. They always had better traction then my LT1 off the line or lower speeds so they would do decent and keep up but after 3rd gear its pretty much over. Its a good thing it wasnt a mach 1 or else he would've had bus lengths on you according to what ive read.

LOL wut? Bigger injectors and no tune......fail.

Thats hurting his power currently for sure, but get some tires and I think youll still have him after the tune. Make sure you take the spare and jack and w/e else you can get out. Weight has won me many a race.

My .02

Ya I have all of the stuff out of the trunk and as for the Mach 1's my neigh bor had one and stock hewas putting down 13.7-14.2 in the quarter mile. But I don't plan on racing one until I get a couple other things done to mine.

If the GT is an automatic he is going to catch hell getting you. Way back in the day I had a PI swapped GT convertible with 355 gears, hpipe, catback, pullies, and cai (100 shot of N2O too but for conversations sake it wasnt used.). I had two friends with lt1's both 95's both catback, cai, airfoil thing maybe something else. One was a 6 speed, one was an automatic. The automatic was a dead even race with the gt inching ahead. The 6 speed easily put 2-3 cars on the GT everytime. His mods arent helping much. He will need gears and a tune in all likelyhood to keep up with you.

Lol sweet! I'm hoping to get header intake and maybe heads an tune then race my neighbor's 2012 5.0, hopefully I'll stand a chance with him just having exhaust, he wants to race now but I won't do it haha
