You might like my cam which is a 224/224 110lsa cam. It lopes hard at 850 and the sotp is way better then my stock cam. Haven't run it at the strip yet but that will change soon.

If you want something really nasty go bigger than a 224, but it won't be as pleasant to drive. But some of us like that.
maybe a MTI X1 or a XER 228/226 112

The X1, Speedtek F1 or Thunders 230 are about as big and nasty as I'd want to go w/ stock heads.
I currently have the X1 and it sounds mean as hell through the Magnaflow exhaust. It lopes really hard. It pulls really hard above 3000rpm.

My G5X-2 sounds absolutely unbelieveable through my true dual setup with stock heads. I've never heard anything like it in my life!

Re: what is the best sounding (loping) and best hp cam?
Something in the 230s with either a 110 or 111 LSA would be really lumpy and give good high rpm hp.....low end will suffer some.....
I actually had a 234/230 on a 112 LSA ground when I did my head/cam swap but the combination of the durration, large valves, and milled heads made piston-to-valve clearance too tight so I had to drop to a TR224 on a 112 LSA. It still lopes but not like the other cam would have .
That cam went under my bed for the future 382 CI I will have some day .

You would be supprised what a dual exhaust(or open headers)would change. I have heard some LS1's with open headers that sounded like high compression big blocks! I mean spine tingling sounds!

244/244 .563/.563 104 Lsa. Stock heads gives you about .100" PV clearance.
or
232/228 on 108lsa is nice to drive daily. I do

I already like the cam cause I heard sound clips of it and all, but they didnt do it justice. Hey, check this out.
LS1 Grand-Am Cup, 239/251 Duration @ 0.050, Racing Camshaft 570/570 106 LSA
http://www.sdpc2000.com/cart.asp?act...1981&pid=90925
Wonder where the idle would be on that thing!

Re: what is the best sounding (loping) and best hp cam?
What would be the sound difference in the MTI X1 cam and the TR230 cam. also, anyone know the power difference between the two? They both sound like awesome cams. I think the 111 lsa on the TR230 would make it sound meaner but the 227 on the exhaust side of the MTI, what does that do for sound or performance? thanks
