Default EPS/Comp Cams warranty on PAC Dual Springs???

Installed my cam last year and redid every single supporting component by way of Geoff over at EPS. Awesome advice and service from Geoff last year.

Im a bit bummed that my PAC dual springs failed while driving on the street. Isn't the whole point of getting dual springs instead of single springs to prevent damage?

Does anyone know if EPS or Comp Cams offers any warranty on their supporting cam parts???

Had my mechanic pull the head. Found the broken spring. Did a compression/ leak test. It is only holding 10 pct of the air. So it looks to be a bent valve.

Has anyone been through a dual spring break under normal driving conditions?

Sorry for so many questions, but I have spent a chunk of money getting this car to where it is today, and I'm not an expert when it comes to being mechanically inclined. So for it to happen the way it did under the circumstances I'm just a bit irritated.

I'm gonna call Geoff at EPS then COMP tomorrow.

Don't see how anybody other then PAC is responsible here. Sorry for your bad luck but a bent valve isnt the end of the world. Stock casting heads (presuming that's what you have) are pretty cheap.

Just call EPS and explain the situation and see what they will do for you.

PAC is still top notch....any spring can and will break at some point!

Talked to Geoff at EPS and he is doing his best to see what he can do. Looks like Mike over at TEA is suppose to be contacting me soon.

Same spring failed another guy here on tech.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ve-spring.html

Under normal driving with the power im making, this should never happen within 15k miles of install.

Hopefully a reasonable resolution will be reached.

Doesn't COMP make the PAC springs and they just repackage them for different companies??

Geoff at EPS said that TEA was the source on my particular order.

Well, springs break. Even the best.
Also, how was a leakdown done with a bad valve spring?

Perhaps not, but it only takes a quick search to find street cars that have broken them.

I understand that springs break or can break, but under what conditions is what Im getting at.

Mileage on them, metalurgy process on that batch, etc etc.

Do you see where I'm going?

You can get a bad one of anything. But I can't see them replacing anything but the spring thats broken. I hope they do.

The only breaks I've found for nextec springs, are .750 lift and 7200 and above RPM dedicated race cars.
It's cool your protecting the/your PAC brand Matt. customer service goes a long way. But don't slander a much better engineered spring. All springs "can" break. It's just that PAC have been giving problems lately for what ever reason. Like comp springs did/do.
Manley makes a great spring. It's proven to be a great spring on Genlll Genllll and the C5R, not to mention all the other applications.
Like I said, .750 lift and above 7200 RPM. .750 lift could be in a street car, I guess. But not likely.

Manley's spring are like all the others, and might even made in the same place as most. I didn't say they aren't a good spring, and I have no stake in PAC at all. Even pro-stock teams break springs and they have a crap-load more in them and on the line than this street engine.

Now Manley might make a spring that handles more lift, more funky harmonics, more aggressive ramp rates, heavier valvetrain components, etc. That's great, but those springs also aren't going in these street cars (neither are the .7xx" lift), so your point really is sort of wasted. PAC makes some big bad *** springs that handle all those things as well, but they don't get run in this type of combo very often.

thats kinda silly. Comparing a brands 2 setup (very bad ***) But get 5-20 miles on the springs combined. To a set that way more common that gets... 500K to millions of miles, is 100s of DIY street cars. Dry 1st starup, cold relines, lots setups valve floating, and search for whats gonna fine more about
