MWC 9" with Strange axles Need some advice if this is proper with pics
I am chasing a popping in the rear while turning after a few months of sitting while getting upgrades. Car has a 3.5 gear with a 35 spline spool. I have the rear apart and it looks weird on the axle bearings as if a ring has rode onto the bearing. I have tried to look online but haven't found anything on this. The bearing moves up and down on the sleeve about 3/16's of a inch. The wedding ring is tight against everything but I don't think that this setup is right.

As long as the inner race of the bearing is pressed all the way against the black spacer, and the wedding ring(bearing retainer) is pressed all the way up against the inner bearing race then everything is ok with the assembly. It looks as if it is all done correct according to the pics. It is normal for the rollers to have some movement in it's unassembled state.

I have heard of a few people using a spool and DR's on the street complain of breaking bearings, the sidewall is not soft enough to absorb the bind.

Looks like...can't tell if its pressed on, cast in or fused. I did not inspect mine that close when I installed them but I would guess it should not contact the rollers.
Did you get the new units yet?

Well I got the new bearings in and welded in the tabs for the ARB and after that the noise is gone. I am pretty sure that Eric@MWC was correct in the fact that it was the LCA's rattling back and forth but I wanted to be positive that it was that as I have to much money tied up in this thing.
