Default 95 hawk, door lock remotes not working right, Help

I just replaced the batteries and reprogrammed the remotes. The remote works if I am sitting in the car, but from outside it will only work it the remote is touching the windshield. Is there a way to fix it? Where is the reciever inside the car and is there an antenna that might be unplugged or wire that might be in the wrong spot? Thanks

Ryan

Get a new remote. They only last so long.

The antenna is inside the RKE receiver. The fact is, these old units just don't have the range of the more modern ones. Cold solder joints have also been known to affect them.

Is there a way to make it work better? or should I just add an alarm with door locks?

I have 2 94's that dont have this same issue. I also have a 98, and I realize the newer system is much better. But the 94's operate well enough that it doesnt bother me. So if I could get it to work like them, I would be fine.

Thanks

Ryan

Im having the same problem. I got a new remote from eBay and programmed it myself, which was simple. However it only works when I'm right at the windows of my car. EBay sells the GM style remotes for 15 bucks of so. Mine works great other than having to be right at the car. I wonder if there's a way to install a 98+ year model security system on our cars without a lot of problems.. just a thought though

I'm not a fan of the ebay ones. I got one for my truck, and the buttons always stick. I bought a GM one for the T/A a while back, and it worked great, even at distance. They're obviously more expensive, but worth it IMO.
