Nice runs. GTX definitely has a strong midrange now.

Get an intercooler on that GTX! My Gen 3 went 12.6@112 with street tires and 100 octane. I didn't have headers either.

The only change from last time was the sticky tires so he was able to start at a lower speed where those cars really shine.

I can't wait to see this thing go down the track. At the worst it's gonna run low 12's. It MAY break 11s if he can get a ~1.7 60'.

You guys are shooting for high 11's on that GTX's current setup? Wasn't the G8 off spray running high 12's?

These cars are strong from a dig, and that's about it. If he can get traction it'll be in the low 12 to high 11 range. On a prepped surface with those hoosiers I can see it happening.

I gotcha, why run meth on top of e85? I figure e85 if good quality ethanol content would be all you'd need. When are you guys going to the strip again? I'm shooting for similar numbers on my next outing after changing a few things on the bimmer and running in cooler weather.

The m90 is a horrific supercharger. Without the meth he can't run as much timing and it starts knocking pretty good at speed. The meth is a bit of a bandaid for hoping the engine doesn't blow up because of how super heated the chambers get.

talk ur friend out of the meth.. i lost a piston because of it.

caddi comes first.. 100 shot and im gonna try to pony up the money for the 8.8 over the winter. juice has some headers for the gtp..so im gonna grab them and a pulley for now

I can't wait to see the V on spray. Headers and pulley will wake the GTP up though.

i must say my car deff made me very happy last night.. from 20 my car is a beast.. i was worried about the first to second shift but she held it just fine... i gave the vette a better roll from 35 to give him the edge and still held him side by side till i missed 5th. i could tell he was upset but hes a good guy...once hes tuned were gonna run again

Yeah, as soon as I found out the results I knew he couldn't have felt good about those races.

Same one I raced before with the black hood.

Add a little nitrous. Something like a 50 shot will help cool the intake charge, as well as give a good on power. A 50 shot under boost would probably net more power, almost like 65-70 shot. Meth, E85, Nitrous :D. Sounds fun!

Didn't know they made a GTX badged Grand Prix. Looks like he's got a pretty good running one there, I know the factory trans is crapola once you start putting out that much power. Does he have his built, and do the built ones actually hold up?

The trans is slightly upgraded. stock gears though... the built ones hold up O.K. It's really a crap shoot though.

Right now it's stock... when it blows I really have no idea what I'm gonna do. I really hate the 4t65 and would love me an F40 or Getrag 284, but the f40 is unproven and both transmissions have useless first gears.

well you can stay away from dig races except for the track.. i have the compg tranny in mine.. better gears and from what i read better bands. doubt its any better of a trans though.

Wouldn't it be better not to twin charge it with that m90 just to keep the thing from soaking up all that heat and raising IAT? I guess if you are spraying enough meth and running e85 it could very well neutralize the heat soak caused by the m90.

You can also do the thermistor mod to get very accurate iat readings.. I did it for my Maggie 112 on my ctsv and it gives you faster and more acurate reading.

he can def run an 11 if he gets grip then. wouldn't be the first time a grand rpix with only 350fwhp range has run high 11.8 to 11.9 but the conditions will have to be perfect.

Trap speed seems to matter very little when the G8 goes up against a wbody. When my Regal was trapping 106-108, SRZ's stock 103mph trapping G8 would ALWAYS get by me up top.

With the NA tune and the stock tires my best trap was 110.7 mph. As it sits now, on motor it trapped 109.4 mph in good air and 107.4 mph last time I went in 90+ degree weather.
