How tall do you make the stands that you use to hold the front end of the car up when you are removing the engine from the bottom?

To be honest I just had 2 friends over, me and 1 friend lifted up each frame horn and the other pulled the motor out on a floor jack

Disconnect everything and lift the chassis off the front frame with a cherry picker. I needed 36" of clearance between the floor and the air dam to roll the engine out with a dolly like the one pictured in this link:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...ls1-fbody.html

Some differences in the way they did it and the way I did it: I disconnected all the harnesses from the engine and marked them with tape instead of pulling the harness through the firewall. I did an LT1, not an LS1.

There used to be a better link for doing this (michiganspeed.com) featuring a guy using beehive style stands he made himself, that's what I used. My stands are 17" high. I did the job myself, alone. With 2 guys it's a piece of cake.
