Default Problem with lost title need help or direction.

I traded a car for a fox body I received the title. But since then my now ex wife threw it away. I didn't get the car from the guy who owns it. But from a guy he traded with.

My question is what is the best way to get a new title or Am I SOL. I can't get ahold of the original title holder.

Any help would be wonderful.

I think you can get a bonded title. After two years it will change to a regular blue title if I'm not mistaken

Run the vin number on a public data site. (use a pay site, you get better info) get the original owners name and address and send him a letter stating what happened. Also send him a power of attorney form(highlight all the area's he needs to sign so he doesnt mess it up) go to the title office and get a new one.. I did this on a car a few years ago

I'm in austin. The title is from Michigan. Think owner lives in Kentucky.

Man tough break, Texas is the worst f****** state when it comes to title work. I was in the same boat 2 years ago with a car from California where the owner lost the title. Luckily, someone bought it from me for a parts car. Ever since then, if I'm buying a car and your not the person registered to it, I'm walking away.

Get ready to jump through the biggest hoops you can think of as some of the others have said above to get that title.
