weird noise @startup....
hello, please tell me if this is normal or not for a 98Z28,A4, 30,000 miles.
When I start the car, there is a loud whirring noise, I think it is a fan, but it really hums. After about 5 minutes it stops, and does not come back on. The mornings have been cold, so I don't know why the fan would be actuating. I don't drive the car much, and it has done it more or less the whole 2 years I've had the car. Please help??
Also, lately there seems to be a squeaking noise coming from somewhere, when I put the car in park, get out, and inspect the engine, no noise. But when you drive, you hear it?? I was thinking either a wheel bearing or a U-joint?? What could be hurt from so little use(although I do get on it to test out new parts and such, but not badly..)??

VIP1, its my personal experience that '98s DO have the AIR as well as the EGR provisions. I had a '98 formula ws6, and it definitely had the AIR system. Couldn't miss the whirring when you started her up. If its an f-body LS1, and in stock trim, you've got the AIR system.
